presentation of the CBR 600 RR 2027
When the CBR 600 RR returned to the market in 2024, track riders everywhere welcomed the comeback of this iconic machine. This was especially true since Honda had significantly enhanced its electronics and the bike remained a top-tier 600 SuperSport.
For 2027, it receives a subtle update, aimed at achieving a slight boost in performance by refining the fundamentals without taking any risks.
Its appearance alone sums up this philosophy. Virtually nothing has changed on the 2027 CBR 600 RR. Fairing, frame, swingarm, wheels, fork—everything is carried over from the previous model. This is already effective gear that’s a blast to ride. But one small element has been removed, and it may be highly symbolic: the winglets are gone!
A Step in the Right Direction
When the world’s leading manufacturer decides to remove these appendages—more fashion than aerodynamics—from its bikes, it’s a very telling sign. This allows for a sleeker fork-head silhouette and a return to the purer style of sport bikes.
However, the CBR hasn’t completely abandoned the concept of front-end downforce. In place of the small winglets, the front end now features slight protrusions below the “eyes.” This is much more discreet and generates the same level of downforce.
For some time now, the 600 CBR has been out of the power race. Its 121 chevaux suit it just fine, and it hasn’t sought to gain any more. On the other hand, it has worked on its front end to slow down more effectively wherever its fiery spirit propels it.
Goodbye, Tokico! Hello, Nissin calipers. And not just any calipers. The 600 has outright borrowed the calipers from the 1000 Fireblade. They’re also 4-piston radial calipers, but more powerful and better equipped to handle heat.
The ABS module has been updated as well and now offers three operating modes:
- Standard, for everyday use
- Track, which disables the anti-wheelie system
- Race, which disables the system to allow experienced riders to fully control their braking

Key Technology
In addition, the CBR 600 retains its onboard electronics, featuring a 9-level traction control system that can be disabled, an inertial measurement unit, 3 riding modes plus 2 customizable modes, 5 power levels, engine braking control with 3 levels, a disengageable anti-wheelie system with 3 levels, a shifter also adjustable to 3 levels, an HESD steering damper, and a color TFT display with updated graphics.
In this latest iteration, the CBR 600 RR has gained 1 kg. It’s no big deal—especially since, at 194 kg, the bike remains a lightweight. But where did that kilo come from? It still has the same 41-mm Showa Big Piston inverted fork and the same Showa shock absorber with the Unit Pro-Link system (both fully adjustable), the same wheels, the same all-LED lighting, the same riding position, the same under-seat exhaust, and still the anti-dribble power-assisted clutch… After all, it doesn’t really matter because it won’t change the handling at all, except for die-hard track riders who, in any case, will have swapped out a bunch of parts on it anyway.
The CBR 600 RR gets a facelift while retaining most of the elements from the previous model. It focuses most of its upgrades on braking and a small part on styling. Its target audience will be delighted, and as long as the pricing remains reasonable, there’s no reason for its success to wane.
