Motorcycle specifications HondaCTX 1300 2015 The new Pan-American

once again, Honda shakes up conventions, tries a new approach, dares a new genre, and introduces a new concept into the particularly rigid world of custom bikes. The object of this shake-up? The CTX 1300. A big V4-powered machine in the world of twin bikes - what an affront! Of course, the brand had already stimulated innovative spirits with the F6B and the CTX 700 series. So, this pursuit of originality should be welcomed by this new CTX with the heart of the ST 1300 Pan-European. Diantre - So one of the most famous roadsters has a bagger cousin?
the CTX is all about comfort, Grand Touring, customization and a new experience. It's quite a cocktail, and the design and powertrain will have to shake it up. Intriguing yet charming, the styling stands out without leaving a disturbing aftertaste, as did the DN-01.
Technically, the bike's underpinnings are as classic as they are technical. There's no double-beam aluminum frame here, but a double tubular steel cradle. On the other hand, there's a 43 mm inverted fork, LED headlights, combined ABS and TCS traction control, and a Bluetooth-compatible audio-stereo system. And while protection may suffer from the symbolic bubble, the pair of panniers, standard heated grips and low seat height (735 mm) will provide appreciable comfort.
as mentioned above, the CTX 1300 takes the longitudinal V4 from the ST 1300. Its potential is here reduced to a more cruiser-oriented application. It drops from 126 hp and 12.5 mkg to a more modest 84 hp and 10.8 mkg. We lose in power what we gain in availability. In fact, these maximum values are obtained 2000 rpm earlier than on the GT. The problem is that the CTX isn't really any lighter than the ST. At 338 kilos fully loaded, it weighs some fifteen kilos more. But let's put these figures into perspective: they're class-leading.
The CTX 1300 is advertised as being particularly fuel-efficient, and thanks to its normalized fuel consumption of 5.8 l/100 km, it can cover almost 330 km in one go.
Perfectly suited to cruising and absolutely not to wanderlust, the CTX 1300 promises exemplary placidity. The 5-speed gearbox is equipped with an engine management system designed to deliver linear acceleration. As Honda itself puts it in its press release:"a calm and tranquil ride".
as with all custom bikes, a minimum of exaggerated presence is essential. The upside-down forks stand out, and the tires are flattering. A big 130 at the front and a huge 200 at the rear. It's all about looks, because it's not the quiet power of the V4 that's going to hammer the rear gumshoe. The rear gumshoe won't help the big CTX turn, and penalizes handling.
Like a cousin of the F6B, with an offbeat, modern vision of custom motorcycling and a desire to offer a new riding experience, the CTX 1300 promises fun, uniqueness and style. With this machine, Honda also offers us a machine out of its class, and, perhaps most importantly, ventures where we least expect it, and promises to invent new riding experiences.

Disappointed by: no 6th gear, no speed regulator, average protection, average discomfort on asphalt, very average finish, poor range, fuel consumption of 6 liters per 100, however good engine looks terrible and does not go unnoticed! for the next I think buy another custom style VN1700 or Harley. ..

I've had a 1300 ctx for nearly 2 years now and I must say I'm completely satisfied with it. I do an average of 1600kms a month, and I have to say that apart from the handling, the rest is very good. The maintenance isn't ridiculous, but it's close, and neither is the weight of the machine (I'm not 60kgs), and even in town I have to say that I don't do too badly. Maybe next year I'll switch to a Triumph 1700 thunderbird... Choosing a bike is difficult, but this one is really worth it. Good day and good choice. Rating : 4/5 Participate in the conversation

The horn, originally anemic and dangerous, has been replaced by a very loud "automobile" taken from an Espace III.
Vision in the mirrors is limited, and it takes a long time to find the right setting. Some people add handlebar-mounted mirrors.
When interfitted, they're just as good as those on cars, which is often borderline.
Saddle comfort is excellent, but the rear suspensions are either too soft on 1, so that when riding a duo, you end up playing rocking horse, or, with one or two notches more preload, too firm and prone to racketing. Unfortunately, there's no adjustment for the fork, and on rough surfaces or, more inconveniently, simple asphalt joints, it sends solid jolts through your wrists via the handlebars, sometimes to the point of almost letting go. The lower the speed, the more excruciating it is. As I said, it's at low speeds that the shaking is at its worst, especially in town, where riding on a trickle of throttle induces movements on the extremely sensitive throttle. In short, it's pure horror. I've fitted a butterfly handle to mitigate this phenomenon, with fairly convincing results. Some people deflate the front tire.... What a shame! Others consider replacing the springs and/or changing the viscosity of the fork oil. It's simple, I don't even take it to the other end of my village to fetch bread. Staying on the subject of comfort, it's worth pointing out that the protection - and this is logical - can't compete with that of a real GT. Ditto the position, with the feet slightly forward, which doesn't allow you to stay on the fleshy soles of the feet, and in extension, with the tank tightly gripped for better control of the bike, and to cushion the often rough jolts. All in all, it's easy enough to get used to, and the CTX isn't a sports bike. The chassis, with the reservations already expressed about the suspension, is extremely rigorous in corners, the handling unflappable up to the maximum, and the braking is hellish. Handling in the wet depends on the tires fitted, where the original Dunlop tires, which were very unsuitable for wet conditions, have been replaced by Bridge Exedra max tires, which are a joy to drive on (apart from the longevity of 8900 for the rear, compared with 10500 for the rear). It's the first time I've praised the Bridgestones' performance in wet conditions. Ground clearance was initially very "sparkling", and having attacked all the nipples, and generously bevelled the aluminium, I gained precious degrees of inclination, and except in duo and on strong suspension compression, no more unpleasant scraping. The first gear is a little long, so you'll have to wax the clutch a little when starting off hard and uphill, if you don't want to hear complaints from the transmission, which I expected to be smoother in these circumstances. Beyond that, it's "like butter". Although the engine lacks extension, it offers substantial torque, and allows for rapid overtaking. I have trouble finding the ideal position, given the handlebar/seat/footrest triangulation, and journeys of over 350 km are a bit painful. Autonomy, which is just about right, then becomes a quality, allowing you to take a healthy break. The LED lighting, very promising on paper, is royal .... . . In a straight line. On the winding roads of the Niçois hinterland, or the Périgord, for example, it's a real nightmare, thanks to an extremely flat beam, with no wastage. As a result, as soon as the bend begins, the light brush cuts off sharply, leaving both the inside and outside of the bend in total darkness. Additional motorized headlights are compulsory for those travelling at night other than on freeways and trunk roads. Finally, the finish really isn't worthy of a Honda. The rear-view mirror shells rattle, some trims yawn (replacements are offered by Honda), and the black parts need to be sprayed with magic spray to keep them looking their best. So here's my assessment, without complacency, for me, a Honda fan (one could doubt it), but so disappointed. It will stand in stark contrast to many others, but above all, it's intended not to mislead those who hope to find in the CTX, the Swiss Army Knife of motorcycling, supposed to square the circle, i.e. : Beauty (that's true for me), comfort, versatility, fun. I've had some experience - well, more than a little - with premium brands, in another field, and I've noticed that many people's wilful indulgence is due to the fact that they don't want to admit to their favourite brand's little and big flaws, so as not to admit that their choice isn't the one they expected, on a point which is often the one that led them to the brand in question in the first place. Food for thought. In conclusion, if I can't find the Arlesienne, I'll keep it until another belle makes eyes at me, just as the CTX did, with the help, it's true, of my better half. Her point of view, sharing more than 95% of the mileage with me, is more dithyrambic. She appreciates the comfort of the saddle, the acceptable turbulence until.... ... At acceptable speeds (excellent speed limiter. It's just that when she sees the big bumps coming, she anticipates them by standing up a little on the footrests, to avoid too much jolting.
So try it before you buy, and ESPECIALLY not on good roads.

And don't forget to remove the washers from the exhaust pipes. The sound is nice, but not excessive, and covers the whistling of the valve train well. Rating : 5/5 Respond to smarth

In fact, the current promotion has enabled me to buy a new one at 12990 â'¬ equipped for touring (high bubble top-case)
A great opportunity
I immediately got to grips with my beautiful red, it's easy to handle, accelerates strongly, holds the trajectory perfectly, sticks to the road and brakes very well.
After 3200 kms, I'm more and more delighted.

Easy, comfortable, relaxed riding position, smooth controls, low engine torque, high-performance coupled ABS braking, a rail through the bends thanks to impeccable handling.
In short, it's a pleasure to ride this excellent machine.
Once fitted with a Honda top-case and GIVI high bubble, it's the perfect GT for solo or duo riding;
My average fuel consumption of 5.5 L/100 km enables me to cover 300 km without the stress of running out of fuel.
My passenger is delighted
the saddle was redone and upholstered at her request, as she found the rear part a little tight.

what's more, you can ride it without the suitcases, which gives it a very nice look, unlike the st 1300 (my aim is not to criticize the st13, but to compare them, as they have the same engine origins).
in short, the CTX1300 is an engaging, enjoyable bike that allows you to ride smoothly or more energetically when the need arises. That's what I was looking for, so I'm very satisfied with the CTX1300. Rating : 4/5 Respond to savoyard
