presentation of the CMX 500 Rebel S 2020
At once youthful, accessible and yet with a "Bad" counterpart, the 500 Rebel grumbles in its S version. These are just a few accessories added to its spine, but they're enough to give it a darker personality. It smells dark, of street ooze and crooked boots.
Freshly redesigned, the CMX 500 is now available in two versions. The standard, to discover Honda's only custom bike (in France), and the S, equipped with a striking embossed seat with topstitching, fork gussets and a smoked windscreen.
That's all, and that's all it needs. The Rebel is defined as a bobber. To overload it would be antithetical. The appearance is threatening, while the bike is more amiable in its functions. Adapted for Euro5, it has taken the opportunity to revise its suspension and clutch for greater comfort.
The big 130mm front tire is still there to provoke debate, before splitting the shadows with its multi-lens optics. Cleaner, the twin produces 45.5 hp and a gentle 4.6 mkg. Not violent, but just right for A2s. And it weighs just 191 kilos to tow.
With its sibling, the CMX 500 Rebel S will be able to continue its battles with the 650 Vulcan and 883 Iron. Piston strokes are allowed.
