Motorcycle specifications HondaST 1100 PAN EUROPEAN 1999 A vintage GT

with BMW reigning supreme in the GT market, Honda created a model designed to counter its domination. The Pan-European has succeeded in becoming a benchmark among Grand Tourers. Acclaimed for its many touring qualities, the ST 1100 relies on an engine specifically designed for it: a discreet, economical and particularly robust transverse V4. Power is sufficient in most cases, but can be limiting in certain conditions.
This big GT weighs its weight. It's not a Goldwing, but it's close to 300 kgs. Having fun is not a priority in the specifications. The ST doesn't encourage you to goof off, but rather to travel peacefully in great comfort. The rider won't have much to reproach it with; the passenger will find that at his level, BM does a little better. Honda's pleasure craft, the Pan boasts a high level of finish, equipment and reliability. Handling is very sound, but it's the brakes that deserve the highest praise. From 1992, this vessel is equipped with ABS. 4 years later, it was Dual-CBS (front and rear brake coupling system) and TCS (traction control) that enhanced safety. With all this equipment, you have nothing to fear, whatever the conditions. With all these options, the bill rises to over 100,000 francs (15,000 euros). That's the price of an excellent touring machine with many technological refinements.

I would like to know its value if I decide to sell it?
Can this mode be considered as a vintage motorcycle?
I was a member of the Amicale Pan Européan at the time of Pascal CALAIS; Thank you for answering me

i'm thinking of changing the timing belt, can anyone tell me if I need to change the tensioners? Yes, I'm taking advantage of the fact that the clutch is changing, so it's all stripped. It has
125000 km. If someone can answer me it would be nice
Thanks in advance. Rating : 5/5 Respond to dick
well, I'd advise you to change your rollers, because I've changed them every time I've had my chain changed, and this evening my pan's odometer reads 332257kms, so I know a little about what I'm talking about.
Incidentally, I change it every 100,000kms.

Who can tell me more about the problem because the dealer hasn't found anything wrong?
thank you in advance Rating : 5/5 Respond to nounet 1970
Under the key switch is a black box fixed by 2 small Phillips screws. It is subject to humidity and should be filled with verdigris (oxidation).
you need to dismantle it without breaking the plastic and de-oxidize everything, then reassemble it with copper paste or Vaseline and you're back in business for another 10 years. Rating : 4/5 Participate in the conversation
To answer you and at the same time to nono 22 I wanted to point out to you that the pan European 1100 st is a great bike to ride but always to take with a lot of precaution at the stop because of its consequent weight. Otherwise I have just passed my 60th birthday and my 2000 pan shows this evening on its odometer 311224kms.
Bonne route à toutes et à tous. Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
To answer shadow's question, yes, the Pan is an excellent motorcycle, heavy when stationary but a pleasure to ride when it's running. Reliable it is, since to date my Pan has 313755 km on the clock and still runs as well as ever.

Well, as I announced in August 2015, I'm almost at my 300,000 kms with my Pan European 1100 s. By the way, I've just fitted the new t30 Evo tires and they're even better than the t30s, especially in the wet, and there's no need to break them in when you fit them.
My Pan's odometer now reads 297098kms.
Bonne route à tous et à tous. Rating : 4/5 Respond to la fleche

What did you spend on it?

Apart from the spark plugs, filters, brake pads, oil and tires, I've changed the clutch with the bell, the rear disc twice, the front disc once, the timing gear every 100,000 kms, the fork oil changes, the brake and clutch bleeds and the shock absorber, and nothing else. Tonight, my pan has 299,147 kms on the clock and it's still going strong.
My pan is from July 2000.

I have the 1100 st and following a medical problem it has not moved for 2 years
I've just started it up again but its lights don't come on, despite the fact that I've checked everything and changed what needed to be changed. Everything works perfectly as before except the front lights. In June 2013 when it was installed the lights worked without any problem
Who can tell me why the lights don't work?
Is it the battery?
Sincerely
Micke

a mon avis pas grave.demonte la bulle le cache gris puis le noir dessous tu arrive aux phares a droite derrière la montre y y a des relais ça doit être un probleme de contact esayes nettoyage fiches et bombe contact electrique
it should work if the fuses are good and the connections too

panamement votre Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
I found the problem with the lights, the fuses were good and so were the connections, I even changed the relays.
The problem was in the contacts of the connections, after 2 years and a half of rest, I had to put some degrippant on all the plugs and contactors and not only on some of them.
My Pan started up again as if it hadn't been running all that time, a bit hard to start up but that's more than normal.
Sincerely

I am deeply saddened to have lost my PAN pilot lover 6 weeks ago and I would like to know through your experiences if I could as a woman consider continuing to make her live through him...she was as precious to him as I was to him but alas despair and a big bout of depression was stronger...It is so painful without him for me
I'm tall and sporty...but alas, I've never ridden such a bike...but parting with it seems unbearable...What do you think...Of course, I'd have to get the license first...My license only allows me to ride a 125cm3!!!!
I await your answers and advice... Rating : 5/5 Respond to NATOUILLE
Respect and courage.
The first thing is to get your license. After that, Miss PanEu is a super-comfortable, tireless girl, but she's never known Weight Watcher: 300 kg is not the same as riding a 600 (180 kg) school bike. The most realistic thing to do is to start out for a few months with an intermediate bike - between 800 and cc and 100cc - to get the hang of riding, and then you'll be able to get your beauty out of the garage.
Don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards. Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
Thank you for your reply, which made me smile...
My boyfriend also had this sense of humor...
But do you know any women who ride this kind of motorcycle...It's true that it's heavy...he sometimes struggled to move it...not to ride it because he had the experience and dexterity with his motorcycle after a long career in the motorized gendarmerie...Thanks again! It's so painful to have lost him forever on that spring day and to come across all those bikers...and not just him and me... Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
Once started, the PanEu is a bike, but when stopped...
My wife (1.71m for 58 Kg) drove ours (1300 from 2004). Since 2012, I've taken off the weight of a fridge and we've switched to BM (RT 1200 from 2010) and my wife rides a vstrom 650... Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
Sorry, I'm not very familiar with the forums, so I don't really know how to thank you.
Thanks for the information...

Maybe I can make it!
I hope so for Lui and for what this bike meant to him.

After many years in a sports car, I took the step up to a GT in September 2006 by buying one of the 1st without the abs options. I have to say that it suits me perfectly, and I've clocked up 40,000 km with this car, which now has 128,000 km and not a single problem. I have to say that I'm very happy with this car, despite having tried many other GTs of different makes, but I'm not ready to part with it

A few minor shortcomings, however: rear-view mirrors that are too low and knock in queues, fairings that are tedious to remove, substantial weight, especially for a duo, feet that rub when cornering hard, luggage capacity that's a little tight
all in all, a real pleasure!

it's a shame they stopped this model, it's the second one I've bought, and I hope to keep it for another 10 years,
after that, I don't know what's better: the mold is broken, as they say, flexibility, comfort, plenty of power for a tourer, balance and reliability,
in my opinion, it should just have been relocated and no need to change the mechanicals, so I'm very sorry to see it disappear, my two 1991 standart models in gray and the latest 2001 abs tcs in midnight blue
you'll have to search a long time and never find it Rating : 5/5 Respond to jois

This machine is a pure marvel that doesn't have some of the faults of recent machines... follow my gaze... here and there..
No complaints here.
As for power, well... you don't have to stay in fifth gear to climb the passes... in a loaded duo... !
If you're looking for a GT worthy of the name at an affordable price... go for it... depending on your budget
