Motorcycle specifications HondaNSR 125 R 1998 Getting started

in the realm of 125 sports bikes, the Italians are queens. In Italy, Honda manufactures the smallest of these sports bikes, the NSR. The lines are elegant, and the sporting spirit less pronounced than in the competition. The Cagiva Mito and Aprilia RS are more efficient and powerful, but also much more expensive and demanding. The NSR allows you to experience the joys of sporty driving, while protecting your wrists. The engine, though not as powerful as the Italians, proves sparkling. Tires and fenders are also less rigorous, as are the suspensions - the latter, on the other hand, offer much greater comfort. Even a female passenger is invited by the two-seater seat and supple damping. These choices make the NSR a more measured replica of the CBR 600: a fun, versatile and accessible sports bike.

A treat !!! In the past, I've had everything from 50ccs to 750ccs
Back to old loves, what a pleasure on our small roads in the Var hinterland. These NSR's push hard from 7000tm, when the valves are fully open. On the JC22s, change the CDI and the valve control box, fit a Giannelli line, change the jets, otherwise tightness guaranteed... As for fuel consumption, it's all in the name of fun, so don't count (7 to 8L and 1 oil fill-up every 1000kms). Change the gear ratios to pull shorter (going up to 160+ is useless these days...)--->13X38 or 13X40 is then TBTBTB!!!!
If you find a recent and not too expensive one, don't hesitate !!! Rating : 5/5 Respond to BELGIUM
I really liked the 2-stroke, which literally rips at high revs... The only problem (if it's a problem) is that this type of engine pushes you to go flat out all the time... the fuel consumption goes with it... 7L/100 km.
as for braking, the front single disc does its job, and I even found it too effective at times. The rear is not very good, just enough to balance it out at low speeds (perhaps mine was at the end of its life).
max unbridled speed from the outset 160km/H, it climbs steeply to 135/140 after which it's more laborious to reach the max.
In conclusion, this is a motorcycle that has nothing to envy the big cube on the main roads. It's fun and reliable. The only drawback is its oil and gas consumption, which, unfortunately, is worthy of a 2T. Rating : 5/5 Respond to killianf

Sorry, I'm a beginner on the nsr and I still don't understand how a 2-stroke bike works

i'd advise you to do the test once, counting the number of kilometers you ride, so you won't be bothered afterwards! Rating : 3/5 Participate in the conversation
look on the back left side you have a lock and a little knob that you have to pull down and it opens Rating : 2/5 Participate in the conversation
My first real motorcycle! For me, it's quite simply the best 125 sportbike if you take all the parameters into account!
Very reliable engine for a 2-stroke (almost 15,000 km before changing the segmentation), it never flinches! Yet I'm on full throttle (about 30 hp), the jets have been changed, the pot has been ripped apart... I had it when I was 16 and I can tell you I'd never sell it! I'm up to over 160 on the odometer (I'm 55kg), and the acceleration is terrific for a 125! It's very comfortable and you can do a few kilometers with it without any problems. Good mirrors. Dashboard like a 600. And the look of a 750NR! And on idle, it doesn't make a loud noise like those Italians! And above all, much more affordable and reliable! Just a little less powerful. Just be sure to warm it up before firing it up!
To be recommended!
Happy driving! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Motardpassioné
Having said that, my granny's got the Hyosung 125 GT-R and other 125 YAMAHA yzf, etc... the current 125 4-stroke sports bikes are unfortunately less powerful...
Bonne route ;) ! Rating : 3/5 Respond to DOMDOM

I've had a 1996 NSR125 R for ~1 year, color: white/red/blue, 30'000KM. For me, as a first motorcycle, it's the Must... ! Very good engine quality (never any problems), good handling (light), and good performance (170KM/h original, 185KM/h modified pot+clapets)
And all this at, shall we say, reasonable cost..
As for me, after 9,000 rpm, I burn at the gear change, BUT BE CAREFUL: don't do it cold... :)

bonne route a tous Rating : 5/5 Respond to seb
(Unbridled line and MIG cartridge, carbon valves, unbridled intake, 138/42/65 jets, good spark plug)!
The bike runs like a dream, apart from the fuel consumption :p
And the acceleration is great, we don't really care about the top speed at 10 or 20 km/h... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Miniguyz

it's my thing, I like to refurbish them and see them go to make someone happy who will give me news and tell me if it suits them.
