presentation of the 999 Scout Sixty Bobber 2026
Indian is bringing a new offering to the fore for 2025, the Scout Sixty, which the American manufacturer constantly declares to be "affordable", with a starting price of 12,890 euros for this Bobber version. It's true that for fans of the custom genre, the bill is always rather steep when you want to treat yourself to foundry work made in the USA, whether by Indian or its great competitor Harley-Davidson. Instead of stripping the 1250 range down, Indian offers a 1,000 cc base (999 to be exact). In reality, if the pistons are smaller between the legs, does this radically change the story? Perhaps not..
Styling as desirable as ever
In addition to a classic, flashier chrome version, Indian is also offering a Scout Sixty Bobber version for Europe. We've known what a bobber is for some years now! It's a stripped-down custom that's dressed up in black for a scruffy look, with wheels fitted with big tires. Indian has applied the recipe with some success: the bike is really nice to look at, and it's in the details that the Bobber makes the difference. The most remarkable change is the rear fender. Now short rather than wraparound, it's the perfect expression of Bobber style. The headlight is also black, and not the same as on the 1250, but if you let your eye wander here and there, you'll notice a few common parts, such as the front fender, the exhaust system and the seat. Indian has also redesigned the 16-inch five-spoke wheels to differentiate the 1000 range from the 1250s.
Not necessarily very light (243 kg for the bobber), the Scout Sixty benefits from a reduced seat height compared to the 1250. As a result, the rider's back rests on the saddle just 649 mm from the ground, compared with 665 mm for the 1250. With a lowered center of gravity, the bike feels lighter and maneuvers are easier with both feet firmly on the ground. Indian has also chosen to place the foot controls in a central position. Fans can rest assured, however, that advanced controls are available as an option. As a further ergonomic option, Indian offers handlebars with high risers to reduce arm strain.
Instrumentation remains faithful to a relatively basic analog meter. An optional 101 mm touchscreen with RIDE COMMAND offers GPS navigation, riding statistics, controllable riding modes, Bluetooth connectivity and more.
The story of a comeback
If the Scout Sixty (re)appears on the market, it's thanks to the evolution of its engine. Withdrawn from the range at the end of 2021 due to pollution, the SpeedPlus engine now meets Euro5+ standards. Completely reworked for greater efficiency, the 999 cc V-twin delivers 85 bhp and 87 Nm of torque at 6200 rpm. That's roughly 20% less performance than the 1250 range, which boasts 105 hp and 108 Nm. We'll have to see how the difference feels in the saddle... It's worth noting that the Sixty is 7 hp more powerful than its predecessor. An A2 version will be available for young licence holders.
Naturally, this engine benefits from liquid cooling, which blends in well with the bike, although the radiator does little to detract from the styling. A question that's often important in the custom world. More surprisingly, the Sixty comes with a 5-speed gearbox. At a time when 6th gear is regularly used as an over-drive to reduce fuel consumption, Indian has done without it. The result is a somewhat unusual gearbox layout, with gears lengthening on 4th and 5th.

Anti-lock braking system (ABS) is standard across the range, while traction control and riding modes are available on Limited versions and optional on Standard versions. Like other Indian Motorcycle models, the Scout Sixty's riding modes (Sport, Standard, Rain) offer three distinct throttle responses to suit different riding styles and road conditions.
The frame is still a steel frame. Suspension features a telescopic front fork with 120 mm travel. The rear suspension will be drier. The shock absorber duo offers just 51 mm of travel. The brakes are twin 298 mm discs, with a two-piston caliper at the front and a single-piston caliper at the rear. The 16-inch wheels are shod with Pirelli Dragon tires, 130 at the front and 150 at the rear. Balloon tires, but not too wide.
The fuel tank holds 13 liters of fuel.
Each Scout Sixty model is available in two finishes.
sTANDARD
The Standard version of the Scout Sixty offers drivers all the essentials for taking to the road. Equipment includes ABS, LED lighting, a new fuel gauge, new hand controls and a larger battery. The Standard version includes an analog gauge and key-operated ignition. This pack also provides access to optional driving modes: Sport, Standard and Rain.
lIMITED Pack
Limited models offer everything the Standard version offers, but with the addition of cruise control, traction control, driving modes and a USB charging port.

Tight pricing
Indian has succeeded in its gamble, throwing a wrench into the works of rival Harley-Davidson. Faced with the 975cc Nightster , the Scout Sixty offers just as much for considerably less. Priced at 12,890 euros for the Bobber version, the Indian is almost 3,000 euros less than the Harley! That's what we call a slap in the face...
