presentation of the 1720 CHIEF BLACKHAWK 2011
indian has only recently returned to the market, but its range has already grown by half a dozen models, all powered by the huge twin 105. The American manufacturer is celebrating its 110th anniversary in 2011, and is taking the opportunity to launch this new 1700 Blackhawk. The Springfield factory had already done the same in 1951, presenting the 1300 Chief Blackhawk for its 50th anniversary. Why the name "Blackhawk"? A little digging into American history reveals the original bearer of this name: an Indian chief (1767 - 1838) renowned for his warlike exploits. His name would later be borne by a helicopter gunship, four American warships, and today by this Tourer. A typical cruiser with a sporty touch, this big low-rider features a lower seat height, a somewhat protective headlamp cover, new Brembo 4-piston brake calipers, a seat cover, rigid side cases and a 110th anniversary commemorative plate.easily identifiable thanks to its typical skirted mudguards, the Blackhawk proudly announces, like its brothers, a 105 cubic inches, i.e. the big 1720 cm3 twin-cylinder with ovoid cylinder heads and crankcases. Character, beauty, metal, but surely a price that will calm the ardor. Let's not forget that the Indian range starts at 30,000 euros.
