The Indian Chief Vintage is one of those motorcycles that can be enjoyed more than ridden. An engine that takes hold of your senses, a scent of history to carry you away in a suave, metallic emotion... Almost a distillation of its chaotic past through the pulsations of its almost 2-liter twin. You could almost compare this bike to an evening of whisky tasting.
In fact, Indian has teamed up with the famous Jack Daniel's brand to create a limited-edition series; and a good one at that. While the motorcycle brand is one of the oldest in the world, with over 100 years of existence, the distillery is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. The Chief Vintage commemorates this event with a tasty model. It's dressed in black and cream, with various emblems bearing the effigy of the Tennessee brand.

It's not Scotch or Bourbon, it's Jack, inlaid on the saddlebag lid, at the bottom of the front skirt and after the rear cylinder. Full details of this special edition's customization will be announced during Bike Week in Daytona in early March. Will we find the famous square bottles in the panniers? Certainly not. This history of alcohol also continues on the mudguard, where the names of the seven master distillers who have overseen the distillation process over the brand's 150-year history are inscribed. However, there are two problems with this model: Indian has only planned a limited run of 150 units, and there are no plans to import it into France.

Before getting drunk on the mechanical or ethylic effluvia, let's appreciate the fine gesture that accompanies the first example of this series. After appearing at a series of events throughout the year, the Chief Vintage jack Daniel's will be offered for sale at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas, from October 6 to 8. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to "Operation Ride Home", an initiative to support junior military personnel in seeing their families again during the vacations.
