Back on the road to success, Indian continues to make its mark, but always with panache. When you've got over a century of motorcycling history behind you, you don't hesitate to show off your crankcases, your chrome, and a touch of frivolity when the itch strikes.

the Chieftain has decided to do just that. In this LIMITED special series, Springfield's big cruiser dares to open up its front mudguard. One of the distinctive features of Indians - the long skirts covering the wheels - disappears without hesitation. This allows us to unveil the new large 19" front wheel (instead of 16" on the standard Chieftain) with 10 spokes. Impertinent yet profound, the Limited is clad entirely in black, reserving its brilliance for the white stitching on the seat and the flashiness of the mechanical parts.

the Thunderstoke 111 twin then takes center stage. An ode to metal and American power, this huge block pulses to the rhythm of its 905 cm3 bowls... each. A zest on the right-hand throttle, just enough to take it a little above 2,000 rpm, and its maximum torque of 13.7 mkg is expressed. Power is everywhere, like a steel-hardened buffalo.
But the Indian Chieftain Limited isn't just a dark, classy, muscular bagger. It's also a machine with a nose for road entertainment, with Ride Command infotainment system, keyless ignition, electrically adjustable windscreen, 100-watt sound system and cruise control.... all of which will soon become irrelevant once this vibrant liner is out on the open road, transmitting its emotion to the crew.
