presentation of the FTR 1200 S 2021

Indian is keen to shake up the world of custom, US-style motorcycling, and even its comfort zone. The approach to a road under tension is different for each manufacturer, each category, each desire. For Indian, it's with the FTR 1200. A little mean, a lot roadster, frankly equivocal and slightly sandblasted, the machine wants to exude the spirit of US flat-track.

But then... From Flat, we've moved on to Street Track, and now we're approaching Street Fight as a roadster. The FTR has changed the game with its 17-inch wheels fitted with Metzeler sport tires. To complete the picture, the chassis has been upgraded with a tighter rake, suspension travel reduced from 150 mm to 120 mm, and seat height lowered to 780 mm.

Underneath, the big twin could get hot. Appreciable in winter, much less so at red lights in midsummer. The FTRs also feature the rear cylinder deactivation system (at idle).

Indian FTR 1200 Sthe modern engine, with 60 mm fuel injection, 4 valves per cylinder, double ACT, liquid cooling and magnesium parts, produces 123 hp and over 12 mkg of torque. The chassis features a tubular steel trellis frame, 43 mm upside-down forks, Brembo 4-piston radial brakes, 320 mm discs and a remote rear shock absorber connecting to a tubular swingarm. Suspension is fully adjustable. This is common to both versions.
The S has understood that it needs to bring a lot of goodies to attract a promising and/or curious public.

So what's in it for you? More expressive colors, a double Akrapovic silencer and much more extensive electronics. In addition to cruise control, it features an inertial unit, active stability control and ABS when cornering, traction control, anti-wheeling and three driving modes (Sport - Standard - Rain). The minimalist speedometer of the standard version has been replaced by a 4.3" TFT display on the Ride Command. Bluetooth-enabled and touch-sensitive, it lets you control a host of functions with a single finger. There's also a USB port.

More exclusive, more enhanced, more rewarding, the FTR 1200 S is also a motorcycle that doesn't let just anyone get close to it. Unlike the standard version, it will not be available in A2 trim.
