Kawasaki’s hypersport got a nice facelift in 2026: a sleeker front end, an optimized air intake, and a pair of “mustaches” to bring its aerodynamics up to date; and, under the hood, a revised engine management system, more power in the mid-range, an upgraded instrument panel, and a slight overhaul of the chassis. As usual, its sister model, the ZX-10RR, adopts the same package while adding its own little personal touches.
The machine gets a boost
The RR has only one thing on its mind: competition. WSBK homologation runs through its veins. The engine is designed to perform at its absolute best with the addition of titanium connecting rods and Pankl pistons, resulting in weight savings of 120 gr and 20 gr per part, respectively. Perfect for reducing inertia and reaching the redline more easily.
What’s more, this pure track bike gets a titanium carbide coating on its fork tubes, ditches the passenger footpegs, boosts braking performance with braided brake lines, is fitted with sportier tires (Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3), has its suspension settings adjusted, and gains an extra 1 cheval. Not much more than the standard ZX-10R. But the RR aims to breathe easier and regain well more than its 197 chevaux—Euro 5+ has sapped a few watts from it, as the previous version boasted 204 bourrins.
A scaled-back spec…
Kawasaki makes no mention of forged wheels or the VAI variable intake system found on the previous-generation ZX-10RR. A simple oversight in the marketing materials… or an omission from the standard equipment list?
Given the price drop for both versions despite the optimizations, it wouldn’t be surprising if certain parts had been cut. Or rather, moved to the accessories and racing sections. To be confirmed.
Production of this ZX-10RR will be limited to 500 units, in order to comply with Superbike regulations. Even sharper, still in pursuit of visceral performance, the Kawa doesn’t represent a major evolution, but rather a series of small improvements sufficient to raise the bar… and lower the standard equipment?
