presentation of the KX 327 2027
The KX models, with their punch and the liveliness of two-stroke bees, had bowed out in 2007. The ported cylinders had fallen out of favor compared to the 250 and 450 valve-equipped models. But Kawasaki is making a comeback and introducing its new KX 327, featuring an all-new two-stroke engine with fuel injection.
Engine
The first 2-stroke engine over 250 cc designed by Kawasaki in over 20 years, it was developed to combine the lightness, simplicity, and exhilarating character of a traditional 2-stroke with the advantages of modern technology. This engine offers a flat torque curve and exceptional handling, particularly at very low and medium RPMs, allowing riders to tackle technical terrain, obstacles, and narrow passages with confidence without constantly worrying about engine RPM.
The state-of-the-art electronic fuel injection system was designed to ensure a stable fuel supply regardless of outside temperature or atmospheric pressure, thus guaranteeing consistent performance regardless of weather conditions and altitude. This modern fuel-injection design also contributes to easier starts, smoother acceleration response, and improved overall handling, while maintaining the responsiveness expected of a high-performance 2-stroke machine. With optimal traction and power that’s very easy to control, the engine helps riders maintain momentum and control even in the most demanding off-road situations. A robust, competition-inspired hydraulic clutch system complements the engine. It is designed to provide smooth engagement and consistent feel on rough terrain.
The clutch has been engineered to provide precise control and a strong connection to the rear wheel, allowing riders to confidently manage traction and power through technical sections, tight turns, and on changing terrain.
The KX 327 is equipped with a close-ratio 5-speed transmission designed to help riders stay within the engine’s optimal power band, while delivering strong acceleration and exceptional responsiveness on motocross tracks.
A new exhaust valve system, developed specifically for the 2-stroke engine, further enhances the KX 327’s available and usable power. This system was designed to optimize exhaust flow and throttle response across the entire rpm range, contributing to strong low-end torque and smooth acceleration as engine speed increases. This balanced power allows riders to confidently transition from slow, technical sections to faster, open terrain, while maintaining excellent rear-wheel traction and optimal control.
Electric Starter
The KX 327’s electric starter activates with the push of a button and ensures quick, effortless restarts in critical moments, allowing riders to maintain their position in the heat of competition.
Power modes
Using a switch located on the left handlebar, riders can quickly toggle between two engine maps (from the ECU) to adjust power output to their preferences.
Smartphone connectivity
Riders can take advantage of smartphone connectivity via the RIDEOLOGY THE APP KX2*, which allows them to access vehicle settings, their ride logs, and maintenance information directly from their mobile device. The addition of handy maintenance reminders helps riders stay on top of service intervals, ensuring the KX 327 continues to perform at its best, whether on technical terrain, in forest competition, or during long days on the trails.
Chassis
The KX 327 features a slim aluminum perimeter frame, derived from the KX 450 F. This frame offers an optimal balance between lightness, agility, and stability.
Composed of forged, extruded, and cast parts, the frame is designed to harmonize with the lightweight 2-stroke engine, resulting in a total weight of just 106 kg—comparable to that of a 250cc motocross bike.
The center of gravity has been carefully optimized to match the engine’s characteristics, contributing to excellent straight-line stability and reassuring handling in a wide variety of riding conditions.
Suspension
The high-performance KYB suspension components are designed to provide confidence and control across a wide variety of off-road terrain. Up front, a factory-spec 48mm coil-spring AOS inverted fork ensures smooth operation and excellent damping, allowing riders to stay composed over rough sections, brake bumps, and technical obstacles. Complementing the front suspension, Kawasaki’s proven Uni-Trak® rear suspension system is designed to deliver optimal traction and precise rear-wheel control on all types of terrain. Both front and rear suspension settings are adjustable, allowing riders to tailor performance to their riding style and terrain preferences.
Brakes and Wheels
The KX 327’s braking system features high-performance Nissin components, designed to deliver strong, controllable braking power in the most demanding off-road conditions. The Nissin calipers and master cylinders are paired with 270 mm front and 240 mm rear petal disc brakes, providing precise and consistent braking on all types of terrain.
The KX 327 is equipped with lightweight aluminum rims, featuring a 21-inch front wheel and a 19-inch rear wheel.
Ergonomics
The KX 327 was designed to offer the rider optimal comfort and control.
The slim, ergonomic bodywork promotes great freedom of movement and better control of the machine in a wide variety of off-road situations. The compact body design allows the rider to easily shift their weight when cornering, on technical terrain, or while standing in rough sections, contributing to a more intuitive and confident riding experience. ODI Lock-On grips are standard equipment and offer excellent grip, while their screw-on mounting system greatly simplifies replacement.
For enhanced comfort and customization, the KX 327 features adjustable ergonomics, allowing the rider to adapt the machine to their body type and riding preferences. The rider can choose from four handlebar positions and two footrest positions, making it easy to find the ideal riding position for increased comfort, control, and confidence during long rides or off-road competitions.
