presentation of the VN 1500 MEAN STREAK 2002

for many, custom rhymes with Harley, a big machine for cushy riding and a big twin with muffled power. This stereotype (not entirely untrue) will soon have to make way for a new trend: the custom-dragster. This translates into overkill and aggressive looks, as evidenced by the recent and surprising Harley V-rod, Yamaha road star warrior and Honda VTX 1800. Skeptical? Take a closer look at this Meanstreak. Imposing twin, huge exhausts, inverted forks (as on the R1 and other CBRs), heavy-duty brakes with 6-piston calipers and 320 mm discs, and a rebellious black paint job. This Kawa smells like gunpowder. The mill is taken from the VN 1500, but here delivers 8 hp more, and still a substantial 12 mkg of torque at 3,000 rpm. Clearly, the manufacturer is giving itself the means to conquer a market that has never been successful. In addition to this concept, which is sure to be emulated, the big Kawa benefits from attention to detail and finish.

I have a 2008 Mean Streak SE....superb performance and handling... nothing beats it.... I've ridden several brands including Harley, Honda, Yamaha, etc....and have done so for 30 years... I hope to see the return of the Mean for 2013-14 with a V-twin 1000 CC turbo!!!

Bravo Kawa! Many more years of prosperity in the wonderful world of motorcycles!

French Cédric Model 2003
I've just swapped my VZ 800 for a Meanstreak 1500, and despite the extra weight, it's a blast to ride, pushing right up to the red zone and holding the pavement. The only thing I'm going to change is the pressure in the rear shock absorbers, which are a little too soft. Very well done and what a looker. The black paintwork is superb Rating : 5/5
