Sport touring

bestiality, power, domination, extreme... These words are not enough to define the new ZZR 1400, but there's one that's written all over the faces of those who discover it: impressive! The first ZZR 1100 was just as chic in the early 90s, with its exceptional power, speed and lines. The recently launched 1200 didn't really take up the torch, and it was the ZX-12 R that took its place as the generously-powered sports bike. For 2006, the ZZR becomes the 1400 and is simply the most powerful Kawasaki ever built. Clearly, the engineers have lost their minds...

in fact, the design of the 1400 sums up this bike's objective: to be THE monster of the road, the fastest, strongest, most incredible sports bike. The impression of power is omnipresent, from the gaping air intake to the grooved air vents to the turn signals integrated into the rear shell. The look alone is striking, like the face of an animal from the imagination of Jules Verne. Every detail, every design feature seems optimized for speed. Striations similar to those found in aeronautics (Kawasaki has an important department in this field) are present on the mudguard uprights, in the sides of the fairing gills and even on the rods holding the ultra-profiled rear-view mirrors.
The 43 mm inverted forks, radial calipers and petal brake discs are virtually the front end of a hypersport machine, with the onerous task of guiding this overpowered beast. The boiler measures 1352 cm3 and tops the 200 hp mark (dynamically with forced air). Hayabusa, ZX-12 R and CBR 1100 XX will find themselves relegated to the rank of pilot-fish next to this white shark of the asphalt. The 300 km/h mark will be smashed and all the benchmarks set by the sulphurous GSX-R 1300 seriously disrupted.
All this fury will be mastered by a chassis featuring a state-of-the-art monocoque frame. Rigidly mounted far forward in the frame, the engine is designed to eliminate vibrations as far as possible, offering monumental torque that's also highly usable and linear, with a big kick of torque once you pass 6,000 rpm.

KAWASAKI 1400 ZZRkawa also intends to achieve a tour de force by offering a machine in pursuit of the speed of sound, while endowing it with real, everyday ease of use. a "relaxed riding position" is how the factory describes the space devoted to the ZZR 1400's rider, who will be able to control the machine's info thanks to 2 analog dials (rev counter and speedometer) overhung by a digital window providing a wealth of information. Let's hope it says "Careful not to melt a lead!" in large letters in the center of the instrument panel. With this crazy machine, it's going to be mission impossible, because it's going to make us terribly envious.

2008 brings the ZZR 1400 up to date. No cosmetic changes, but engine improvements to comply with Euro 3 standards, reduce mechanical noise and optimize efficiency. Kawa has announced increased maximum power, a smoother power curve at mid-range and increased torque at low revs.
If only they could do away with the bridle that castrates the engine in this rpm range... Bridled at the bottom so as not to overwhelm the rider, and bridled at the top by French law, the ZZR 1400 doesn't have what it takes to express itself fully. Fortunately, for track use only, there are electronic unlockers to show the ZZR's true face.

62 years old and only 10 years of licence,
after a gentle apprenticeship on a hayabusa (and yes, you have to be crazy !), I've just bought a 2006 1400 zzr in full with two singing yosh !!! that's a motorcycle !!! and yes, Papy is crazy !!!! Not that crazy !!!
Impressive ease and precision in any situation, city highway mountain road and so on,
all in all, a real pleasure for those who dare to ride it!
those who criticize really don't know or don't dare to take the plunge into the 600, 1000 cm3 range
it's a bike for experienced riders, not for everyone
Finally, it's a happy grandpa who's not about to change bikes, guaranteed sensations and a successful marriage!
V a la croisure pour tous les 1400 ZZR ,on tient le mème langage !!!

2006 model recently debrided in accordance with the 2016 law. Extraordinary machine, fun at all revs without rolling like a calu. At ease on winding roads as well as on the autobahn, light despite its respectable weight, a crazy toy, a beautiful motorcycle with unmistakable lines, the machine you dream of owning even for a ride that respects speed limits. I like to take a corner at 70-80 even if I don't get down on my knees. A beautiful trajectory with a beautiful machine, that's top! Rating : 5/5

After more than 4 years on a 2010 zzr 1400, I'm back on a 2015, you don't change a winning team, do you?
What can I say? It's a bluffing quick and easy bike, very good for a ride or a long two-up turn, and it's also very nimble when it comes to wrenching, although it's not a 600, but it handles well
I highly recommend it for those who like the concept of a bike that can do almost anything

I agree that it's a very good bike, having owned a 2009 model since 2010, but I do miss my 1998 Honda CBR1100XX, which was certainly less powerful and had a less racy engine, but was much more homogeneous and therefore easy to ride both with a whip and in soft use. Rating : 4/5

Hello, I'm 51 years old and I'm the proud owner of a ZZR 1400. For young people, I'm
a "Belgian traffic policeman". I've been in the business for thirty years. My private career, CBX1000 - ZZR 1100 - ZX12R and now the "MUST". ZZR 1400. To all of you, I was a "fan" of the gsxr 1300 but with my purchase, I have to tell you that the unbridled zzr is the "NIRVANA" of motorcycling. As for the "jerk" discussions. This bike is incredible in its performance and qualities. Thank you "KAWA" for this perfection. As for the others who talk about it without knowing it, stop talking about it without trying it out. You're ridiculous and you're riding a moped that's been tampered with at 120 km/hr. See you and "V" to the lucky owners of a ZZR 1400.

After a zx9 and a zx12, I simply have to say wow! I tried the 1400 and found everything I loved about my 2 old bikes. The handling of the 9r and the power of the 12 - it's a dream, even non-Kawas can't deny it, it's a monster... I can't wait to get mine (in black), it's insane.... THANK YOU KAWA FOR MAKING US DREAM AGAIN Rating : 5/5
bonjour, me l'ai depuis septembre 2006 9000km compteur, version débridée (belgique oblige :-) C'est ma première moto, jamais roulé avant même pas en scooter, et je trouve cette moto hyper maniable, souple, précise dans les virages et en ville. I certainly don't have the experience of many of you, but I'm having a lot of fun with this machine. You just have to have something in your head and know your limits (which you push back every time). I've been a crechendo, I've pushed it to 330 on the circuit (Francorchamp) and I assure you, you can easily put your knee down on it without any problem (I've taken a mastery course, so yeah, you have to know what you want in life)
i say buy what you like and take care of yourself (a 600 or a 1400 if you get to 200 in a hairpin the result is identical just that with the zzR you'll get there a little faster :-))
ciao

After 45,000 km on a full ZX12R, I've been riding this machine since June 06 and 8,000 km. Bridled, it's crap, but by changing the airbox horns, removing the wire that goes well under the seat and removing the torque-cutting secondary throttles, it's a delight: torque, devastating but usable power, acceleration superior to the ZX12R, all combined with extraordinary handling. You can drive like a fighter jet, without tiring yourself out. Range of around 240 km before reserves, super-powerful lighting, excellent braking, less tire consumption than the 12R etc... To sum up, I'm 46 years old and have had many sport bikes, but after the 12R I could only ride a 1400 ZZR, which is simply brilliant !!!!! Rating : 5/5

French speed 310K Model 2006
This bike is superb, I bought it. In terms of handling, it's as easy to ride as the 600ZZR, a complete dashboard, enough torque to make any fighter jet flinch, a more than reasonable weight since it's lighter than the 1100ZZR, very effective braking thanks to the ABS system, among other things, but the downside is that it's very poorly bridled, so I can understand why a lot of people are frustrated. On the other hand, this machine MUST NOT be given to anyone. A minimum of experience is required. Otherwise, it's a real pleasure to ride. See you soon on the roads, and patience to all those who have ordered it. Rating : 5/5

Kawa has a large aeronautics department. A plane from (provisionally) the last world war was nicknamed "the widow-maker". Let's hope the same doesn't happen to this machine... Everyone's screaming about 106 CVs, now I'd like to know what use such a machine is on the open road, (if not to lose one's license) and who, apart from Turbo-Nénesse and Super-Tartempion, would be capable of mastering such a mill? As for style, you've got to love it. Rating : 5/5
French Powaaaaa Model 2006

Mine's on order, and will replace my 12R without faltering ... it seems more comfortable and easier to handle, and that's all to the good

As for those who worry about the French 106 hp, 90% of motorcyclists over 100 hp ride illegally anyway

So what's the point of this cretinous law that isolates us from the rest of the world?

We can see that the greens are still enjoying their unrivalled dexterity. The very typical styling is pleasing, with F512TR-style gills (already seen on the Suz 600RF), but as is often the case with Kawa, the rear overhang is too big. In any case, it's a welcome change from the Hayabusa's bio-design, which, pleasing as it is, is starting to look dated. As for the engine, I think we can already warn the miller that his mill is going too hard... 200hp is enough to provoke mass suicide at Suzuk' and Honda. Rating : 5/5

First impression: it's a bit too late for the Hayabusa, which has held the top spot among sport GTs for years, and its half-modern, half-silly styling isn't likely to overshadow the Suzuki 1300. For me, the Hayabusa is much prettier, with its bulging rear end and charismatic headlight. In short, it's a bike I wouldn't dwell on at the World Show. Rating : 5/5
