The maxi-trailers, whose clan attracts all the attention, have become the SUVs of the motorcycle world. They've retained a certain trail profile, but their passion is no longer for trails or crossing. With the exception of a few rare machines, these imposing motorcycles are content to climb a curb or pave a dusty road when adventure beckons. Their thing is the road. And the Kawasaki 1000 Versys plays right into this niche, with an appreciable dynamic bent. With the Tourer series, it offers little extras so that the crew can go away for an extended weekend.

I've been driving it for 2 months now, and it's a real pleasure to drive: pleasant and comfortable, with perfect suspension for my driving style. Without going into competition with the sports cars, it pushes hard and winds up very well in the corners, it doesn't deny its origins. In running-in at 4,000 rpm, I refilled the tank at 367 kilometers, with 2.5 liters left on the bike (21-liter tank), which isn't bad. As for the transmission, I personally prefer a good chain, which costs much less than a cardan shaft, contrary to what people say (puncture-proof), when problems arise and expenses cost you an arm and a leg.
