presentation of the 300 EXC 2027

The 300 EXC is a benchmark in the world of extreme enduro, with a strong reputation thanks to its 293 cm³ 2-stroke single-cylinder engine (producing approximately 49 chevaux) and a featherweight of just 104 kg. Equipped with electronic fuel injection (TBI) and an electronic exhaust valve, it delivers phenomenal, instant torque right from low RPMs while eliminating the need for manual fuel mixing. Paired with a high-end chassis featuring a chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame and WP XACT suspension, this Austrian machine combines formidable agility with unmatched traction to conquer the most technical obstacles.

Engine

The 300 cm³ 2-stroke engine is not only a top choice in the E3 Enduro class, but also remains the ideal option for riders seeking maximum power and torque with minimal weight.

Electronic Fuel Injection System

KTM 2-stroke Enduro models are equipped with electronic fuel injection via a throttle body, or TBI. The ECU and the 39-mm Keihin throttle body calculate the ideal air-fuel mixture by constantly analyzing various parameters. A cap protects the CPC fuel connection on all models and adds an extra layer of protection. The small fuel filter located in the fuel line remains in place and is easily accessible.

Cooling System

A radiator fan is standard equipment on the entire KTM EXC and EXC-F lineup.

Offroad Control Unit

The Offroad Control Unit (OCU) is located under the seat and replaces all electronic fuses and relays. All outputs are continuously switched based on signals from the voltage regulator and the ECU. In the event of an overcurrent, the outputs are deactivated individually. Diagnostics are simple: the status of each output is indicated by a red or green LED. On the trails, identifying an electrical problem is as easy as lifting the seat—no need to carry around finicky fuses.

Selectable Map Settings

Designed for intuitive use, the Map Select selector is available as an option on all KTM EXC models and allows you to easily choose between two unique engine maps. Map 1 offers standard power delivery that is more linear and predictable, while Map 2 has a more aggressive character, with a livelier throttle response and more direct, explosive power.

Battery and Wiring Harness

Like the rest of the EXC lineup, the 300 EXC is equipped with a proven and reliable electric starter system. Powered by an ultra-lightweight 2 Ah lithium-ion battery, it ensures reliable and consistent starts every time you ride. The wiring harness groups most components under the seat for easy access.

Ergonomics

The KTM Enduro lineup features a rider-centered ergonomic triangle, offering better contact around the knees—especially when standing on the footpegs—and optimized contact surfaces all around. The plastic bodywork helps shed mud buildup in wet conditions; the flat seat with a high-grip cover promotes freedom of movement and control; and the polyamide-reinforced aluminum rear swingarm offers unmatched feel and feedback.

Exhaust

The exhaust manifold is designed to increase ground clearance and reduce the risk of damage when riding over large roots, deep ruts, or jagged rocks. The muffler is made of lightweight aluminum.

Frame

Specially designed to deliver optimal longitudinal stiffness, the KTM Enduro lineup features a black powder-coated frame that ensures exceptional rider feedback, excellent energy absorption, and high stability at high speeds. This is achieved through the repositioning of rotational masses within the frame and a forged steering head. The footpeg mounts also feature a slim design to minimize the risk of snagging.

Rear Loop

An ultralight rear loop is mounted at the rear of the main frame, featuring a two-part construction combining polyamide and reinforced aluminum. Thanks to numerical simulations, its stiffness has been precisely tuned to deliver exceptional handling and direct rider feedback. Compact in design, it can bend and flex in the event of a crash rather than break, while fully integrating the electronic components without unnecessary brackets, tabs, or fasteners.

WP XACT Closed Cartridge Fork

A 48-mm WP XACT Closed Cartridge spring fork ensures fast and consistent damping, with optimized oil flow. The result: top-level performance in all conditions. Fork seals also limit dirt intrusion. And best of all, compression and rebound can be adjusted entirely without tools.

WP XACT Rear Shock

A true hallmark of KTM Enduro machines, the PDS rear shock concept improves the chassis’s anti-squat performance. It remains the most reliable and easiest-to-maintain solution for competitive Enduro riding. At the rear, a lightweight WP XPLOR PDS shock absorber takes over.

Wheels and Tires

The 300 EXC features high-strength GIANT alloy wheels, paired with CNC-machined hubs and aluminum nuts. They are fitted with ultra-grippy Maxxis MaxxEnduro tires for exceptional traction in all conditions.

Adjustments

The KTM Enduro lineup features tool-free suspension adjustment at both the front and rear. At the rear, PDS technology includes high- and low-speed compression settings that can be adjusted by hand in just a few seconds. Up front, the fork is just as easy to adjust thanks to the adjustment knobs located at the bottom of the fork leg and on the upper cap, allowing you to fine-tune the settings on the fly as naturally as you twist the throttle.

Air Filter Housing

The air filter housing is designed to ensure maximum airflow while limiting water intrusion. The precise positioning of the intake ducts prevents turbulence and effectively protects the filter. Beneath the housing, an enduro-specific splash guard prevents water and mud thrown up by the rear wheel from reaching the filter, while the Twin Air filter and its mount use a simple and secure mounting system for quick and precise installation. The result: tool-free access to the air filter for quick maintenance on the side of the track.

Fuel Tank

The transparent polyethylene (XPE) fuel tank is an iconic feature of the KTM Enduro lineup. Race-proven from GNCC to the most extreme FIM Hard Enduro events, it’s built to take a beating. A one-piece fuel pump with filter manages the fuel supply, while easy access to the filter further simplifies maintenance.

Controls

On the right side of the handlebar is a sleek start/stop switch; on the left, the optional Map Select selector allows you to choose between Map 1 and Map 2.

Stability

The KTM Enduro lineup remains exceptionally stable at any speed, thanks to a forged and repositioned steering column and CNC-machined fork crowns. Made from high-grade aluminum, they offer optimized steering column stiffness, perfect alignment of the fork tubes, and precise clamping geometry, resulting in smooth and responsive fork action, with the added bonus of unwavering stability on ultra-fast, full-throttle special stages.

LED Headlight

To illuminate the road, the KTM Enduro lineup features an LED headlight assembly with a headlight cover. The cover improves protection for the fork crowns against debris and eliminates the need for rubber mounting straps, ensuring a more precise fit. Most importantly, the LED unit provides powerful lighting that completely transforms night riding.
