presentation of the 450 RALLY 2011
the recent changes to the Dakar regulations initially cast a pall over the manufacturers (especially the orange-skinned one), as the new displacement limit was supposed to redistribute the cards. Warmed by the affair, KTM initially grumbled copiously, then set about developing a shock 450. This is the adventuress destined to replace the glorious 690 Rally Replica. There's no mistaking it: this is a genuine compé-client, ready to cross the desert straight out of the box. Equipped with a generous set of spiked wheels, the 450 RALLY impresses more with its dimensions than its displacement. Its suspension travel is exceptional, with 300 mm at the front and 310 mm at the rear. It's all there to optimize its cross-country capabilities to the max. With its 980 mm seat height, the Katoche will force you to do the splits to get on board.
with the equipment supplied, you'll be ready to tackle any special event right away: road-book, Akrapovic racing exhaust, 3 spare engines, number plate slot, split fuel tank with 35-liter capacity, and racing genes firmly embedded in every corner of the wheel. Built for wide-open spaces, arid plains and desert traps, the 450 doesn't intend to marvel at the landscape, but to raise great clouds of dust without restraint. Undisclosed, the 449 cm3's power is said to exceed 60 hp. This kind of performance is enough to give you wings and speed on a rolling track. The video of a Cyril Despres training run (below) gives us a good idea of its velocity. On the other hand, forget about buying a swimming pool to add to your property: the KTM 450 RALLY costs even more.
