from 2006 to 2026Good old Bob and his austerity.

The Harley-Davidson Street Bob is the brand’s minimalist and aggressive “bobber,” designed to embody the spirit of rebellion and customization. Its history can be divided into two major eras.

The Dyna Era (2006–2017): The Street Bob was launched in 2006 as part of the Dyna family. It was immediately recognized for its stripped-down style inspired by post-war bobbers. Blacked-out styling, short fenders, a solo seat, and above all, the famous mini ape-hanger handlebars. It successively used the Twin Cam 88, 96, and 103 engines.
The Dyna chassis, with its engine mounted on silent blocks, offered a raw riding experience highly appreciated by purists.

The transition to Softail: In 2018, Harley-Davidson restructured its lineup, and the Street Bob was moved to the new Softail platform. It was a technical transformation: the new Softail frame is lighter and stiffer, improving handling and incorporating a single shock absorber hidden under the seat (while retaining the hard-tail aesthetic). It adopts the Milwaukee-Eight engine, initially in the 107 ci (1,746 cc) version, which delivers more torque and less vibration thanks to its counterweights. Starting in 2021, it will feature the M8 114 (1,868 cc), positioning it as one of the most powerful Softails in the lineup, while retaining its minimalist look and nods to classic bobber styling.
