from 2011 to 2026Sport-GT takes on a new form at Kawasaki.
In fifteen years, the Kawasaki SX has gone from being a streamlined roadster to a fast-traveling tourer. A look back at a lineage that has evolved without ever betraying its DNA.
2011 - 2013 : The "Z" instinct
It all begins in 2011. Kawasaki grafts a fairing and adjustable bubble onto its mean Z1000 roadster. The result? A raw, hybrid machine, devoid of electronic aids but with an explosive engine. It's the birth of a no-holds-barred Sport-GT.
2014 - 2019 : Technological mutation
The SX is refined and equipped for the road. In 2014, it receives traction control (KTRC).
The major turning point comes in 2017: the adoption of an inertial measurement unit (IMU) improves dynamic safety (cornering ABS).
2020 - 2024: The "Ninja" christening
Change of identity: the Z 1000 SX becomes the Ninja 1000 SX. Kawasaki unifies its range and raises the level of comfort: more advanced electronics with cruise control, Up & Down shifter and TFT screen.
A single exhaust system replaces twin pipes, and engine management becomes smoother to meet Euro 5 standards.
2025 ->: The 1100 era
By upsizing its engine, the Ninja 1100 SX completes its transformation. Faced with a competition that was inflating its displacement, Kawasaki responded from the top. The engine block increases to 1,099 cm³. While pure power is down (from 142 hp to 136 hp), torque is up all round, for fuller throttle response. The arrival of a SE (Special Edition) version equipped with Brembo brakes and an Öhlins shock absorber shifts the cursor towards the top of the range.
