Motorcycle specifications KawasakiNinja 1000 SX 2021 Sensations d'eXpériences

Naked

After three Z 1000 SX chapters, Kawa's big, streamlined roadster gets a technical and identity update. Whether it's a question of standardization or a desire to assert a sporting identity, this Z becomes Ninja, which corresponds to its American name. Over there, the Z 1000 SX has been called Ninja 1000 since 2011.

Merging the names to create the Ninja 1000 SX, a modernized and enriched version of a roadster-Sport-GT that's enthusiastically homogeneous and efficient. Hence the obvious prudence of its evolution in 2020. Rather than a totally unnecessary redesign, Kawasaki has opted to fine-tune a number of elements, from a little to a lot.

No risks were taken with the exterior. Subtle, even timid, the renewal of this tautly shaped fairing merely sharpens it. Equipped with LEDs since the last generation, the headlights become even sharper, as do the lips of the eyes. A trim for the flanks, a touch-up for the hoof, all for a zest of acidity in its silhouette without any disorientation. The Ninja delicately follows the Z 1000 SX.

Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SXthe rear end arouses more curiosity. After years and years of dual mufflers with twin tailpipes, Kawa returns to simplicity with a single exhaust. The appendage is very long, clearly extending beyond the eccentric chain adjustment system (a rarity). The interest lies elsewhere, and is twofold. It saves 2 kilos, and puts the finishing touch to the engine-makers' efforts to make the 4-cylinder cleaner. With Euro5 just around the corner, the Kawa is gearing up for it with revised camshaft profiles, 45 mm shorter intake ducts for cylinders 1 and 4, revised mapping and a 3-way catalytic converter in the manifold.
No technical consequences for the 1043 cm3, which is still happy to announce its 142 hp and 11.3 mkg. Impatient to warm up the new Bridge' S22 tires, he knows that some electronic crutches are going to change his job. He had a few, but some of his girlfriends invited themselves to the party.

By splitting into an SX(2011), the Z 1000 almost became a road roadster, or even something approaching the sport-touring domain. Its sportiness is further asserted by the standard fitting of an Up&Down shifter. On-road performance is also enhanced by the installation of cruise control, made possible by ride-by-wire. More comfortable saddles and a bubble that can now be adjusted to 4 positions are in the same vein. It can be adjusted without tools. The Z 1000 SX 's day-to-day features will be appreciated, such as the assisted, anti-dribble clutch, discreet pannier-mounting inserts and remote knob for shock absorber adjustment. A center stand? Not yet included. USB port? Optional. On the other hand, and this brings us back to electronics, there's something new on the dashboard.

Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SXtFT technology is making rapid inroads into the Kawasaki range. If KTM has been able to install it from its 125 Duke to the 1290 Adventure, it's only a matter of time before the needles and liquid crystals disappear, except for the vintage and neo-retro models. For now, let's take a look at this 10.9 cm / 4.3-inch screen. A sort of standard, since it's found on the Z 650 & 900, Ninja 650 and Z H2. While the size is the same for all recipients, the content and options are richer, depending on the engine size. With a choice of a black or white background, the screen features two types of display. Road-style, with an attractive layout and all the information you need; or Sport-style, with indicators for bank angle, acceleration and braking forces, and Gs.

With a Bluetooth chip, the cockpit can talk to your phone via the "Rideology" app. This allows you to control basic functions (calls, messages, music), consult your routes via GPS, configure settings or obtain vehicle information.
On-board electronics also have an impact on driving. The Z 1000 SX had two Power Modes, 3-level KTRC traction control, KIBS intelligent braking, IMU inertial unit and KCMF cornering management system. The Ninja adds four riding modes, governing KTRC and Power Mode. It's not complicated, just a set of combinations:
- Sport Mode: Traction control in Mode 1 (the least intrusive) and full power
- Road Mode: KTRC on 2 and full power
- Rain mode: KTRC on 3 and low power
- Rider Mode: user selects KTRC (1 / 2 / 3 / Off) and Power Mode (F or L).

Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SXcables and real-time analysis are all well and good. But it's not going to do much good if the chassis doesn't hold up. The Ninja 1000 SX uses the same technical solution, just as the Z 1000 SX 's chassis was flawless. The aluminum spar frame retains Kawasaki's confidence, as do the 4-piston radial calipers and their 300 mm discs. The 41 mm inverted fork receives a small modification to the internal piston to soften reactions during compression phases. Like the rear monoshock, the settings have been recalibrated. From theold to the new SX, tires are the main difference - and the S22s have a lot of potential.

The SX is evolving, with a few modern touches, but without touching the essentials. A slightly cleaner engine, the "necessary" dose of electronics, a little facelift, a pinch more comfort - this summary of a line is not enough to describe the majority expression of this Kawasaki. A gradual transformation into a Sport-GT that really suits it, offering a versatility that the Z 1000 can't boast.

French REG73 Model 2022
Super bike, I've had it for a year and have already done 8000Km. Extremely maneuverable, solo or duo, and very comfortable to ride. A responsive engine, even without downshifting. The only downside is the aesthetics of the mirrors. Rating : 5/5
French Emi1709 Model 2023
A late bloomer, I'd been dreaming of this bike for a long time. After an apprenticeship with several roadsters, I finally acquired this 2023 model. And the dream lives up to it. You can ride it GT or get a bit excited, but not too much, because it goes up fast. So yes, you have to be a bit careful when maneuvering it, it weighs a lot, especially for tall people like me (1.70, low seat height), it's still a fairly heavy machine, but as soon as it's rolling, it's perfect. Quite simply, this machine has put my roadster out of work, because even on short trips, it's a real pleasure! Shortcomings? The passenger seat lock is a joke. Hand protectors or handlebar air deflectors would have been welcome (when it's freezing, heated grips aren't enough), and no automatic turn signal reminder that you have to turn off every time... Super purchase, very happy, very nice machine. I highly recommend it! Rating : 5/5
French Kawastinger Model 2022
Hi, I had 2 the 2019 and the 2024 in tourer version the 2 I ride in duo. On the 2019 I had comfort saddles made by a saddler and on my 2024 for the moment they are in origins because much more comfortable. It's a sport bike that can easily be mistaken for a GT. You can send the heavy stuff if you adjust the fork and rear shock, even in a duo... It's a rail. In the mountains, it's a pleasure to drive, at any rpm. Flat out in duo at 30km/h on the 6, no problem... In short, a little jewel... Rating : 5/5

French Olivier Model 2024
Hello everyone, My wife has fallen for this beautiful and big toy. A little dubious at first about the comfort of this thing, [I drive daily bmw k16gt] ... a test was necessary. After a lot of haggling...mdr...in short, a big surprise! It's a bike that's not just beautiful, it's pleasant from every point of view. What blew me away was the flexibility of the engine! It's brilliant. And then there's the weight: you can't feel the 235kg. Fresh off the line, this bike is really a pleasant surprise. I hope Madame will be pretextual...but right now I have my doubts. Message for Rwan: are you sure it's not a 125cc you've tried? ???? Olivier Rating : 5/5
French jean claude Model 2022
after 3 versys that gave me satisfaction (except for the weight, which was too great), i opted for this ninja, the only drawback of which is the absence of a central keel. otherwise, lighter and lower than my versys, it suits me perfectly. i'm 175 cm tall. biker friendships to all Rating : 5/5

it's the top case that's the problem and it's ugly and above all it only brings inconveniences when driving and there are no plans to fit a top case except for france and germany Rating : 4/5

@ Rwan, don't confuse the Ninja 1000 SX from the Z1000 with a BMW 1250 RS! Having tried the 2 before taking the plunge (and I thought the BMW was nice), well it's been 2 years since we've been (with Madame) on the Ninja! It's true that we've been riding an RST 1000 Futura for 20 years... The Ninja is simply much sportier! The big difference is the driving range: a 1000 cc from an old ZX10R expresses itself at high revs, so it's much more demonstrative. The BMW certainly picks up smoothly at a much lower level, and blows more in the middle (although it doesn't descend into the revs to run on a trickle like the Ninja). It's not the same approach to sport touring. The BMW is a sporty GT, the Ninja a sport-tourer (not GT): you still have to let it express itself between 8000 and 11000 rpm... And here, I'd like to know who has ridden it to find the engine linear!!!
And in this case, the flat (which remains a very good engine) remains far behind..
Then, in terms of equipment and electronics-safety, in terms of quality-price, it outclasses the 1250RS...

comparing this engine to that of a r1250rs is a joke. BMW we forget it's worth nothing except trouble. I've had 2 and never bmw again, to banish. Either triumph or kawasaki. Apres a chacun ses gouts . Rating : 5/5

Having had a 2016 Kawasaki z1000sx ..I've seen a huge evolution in terms of mudguards and safety equipment..A whole range of electronics that make our daily lives easier..
The gearbox is very pleasant and has been revised.
The engine is far from linear as some people say...Having tried a bmw 1250 rs, I much prefer the ninja 1000sx.
I own a 2022 model and I'm very happy with it
It's a real Swiss Army knife...it can do it all...(touring, long-distance riding, fooling around etc...)
On this new model, the duo has been revised and optimized..
I'm happy with my purchase and wish you all the best.

I own the 2019 model and it's perfection
I have absolutely no regrets about my choice. It currently has no equivalent for me
Only question, is it reliable over the long term?
The future will tell

When you absolutely want a tourer, drive it every day in all weathers and avoid BMW (who knows why lol), the choice is quickly made

VFR800, THE ideal tourer... but here's the thing... in recent years, it's forgotten to evolve

The NINJA 1000SX is 200cm3 larger (approx.), 40hp more powerful AND lighter. PLUS it's got LOTS more electronic assistance!

And what's more, both bikes are in the same price range!

In short, even if you LOVE the VFR (I've had 4 of them), you've got to know how to move on. Especially when you ride a lot in the Paris region, it's a shame not to have all these aids (because riding a VFR in Paris... especially when it's raining... is unfortunately often dangerous)

So I tried and bought this bike. It's an EXCELLENT bike, but
- on a Honda, as soon as you get on it, you immediately feel at ease. With a Kawa, it's YOU who gets used to the bike (and not the other way around :-()
- the lock to open the passenger seat is HYPER badly placed
- the down shifter doesn't always work
- when you apply ONE burst of throttle (to warn sb1, before he shoots you), the bike occasionally goes TWO vroum!!!! Or vrouuuuuuuuuuum (the throttle doesn't come back on its own?!?!!)
- the cruise control, an excellent option, is unfortunately not at all intuitive
- the dashboard is ONLY in English grrrrrr
- the app too?!?! GRRRRRR
- no center stand grrrrrr
- the mirrors are HYPER POORLY placed for the interfile. When you're doing 80% of your driving during the week, it's balo!

In short, I don't regret my purchase, because in any case it's the best on the market today, but I do have a LOT of regrets, and I miss the VFR enormously (it had NONE of these almost prohibitive defects).

Unlike the Honda and Suzuki I've had, on which I immediately felt at ease, the NINJA 1000 SX took me a few months to fully tame. Apart from the little faults I mentioned in my previous comment, which we've come to overlook, it's an excellent bike! Very reliable, the best road bike I've ever ridden. And what a ride! Once the break-in is over, the shifter is GENIAL!!! This bike has a potato!!! More speeds â la volé thanks to the Shifter, at every traffic light I leave everyone in place :-) (my young con side still comes out a little from time to time lol). Exceptional comfort, both in front and behind! Even better than the VFR, which was already very comfortable. The suspension absorbs road irregularities with impressive comfort! Even the little speed bumps!!! I take it summer and winter... well, in winter, you can feel how well it protects you!!!! And yet I'm 1m80 tall! Rating : 4/5
One of the best bikes I've ever owned. Not to say the best. Very pleasant and easy to handle on short and long trips. Solo or in a duo, it's perfect for cool or speedy riding. Too much, I love it. Have a good ride. Rating : 5/5
Too bad about the double jars that gave it its identity! Rating : 4/5
