presentation of the C1002V 2025

If the name Morbidelli rings sweetly in your thoughts with the 850 V8 of the '90s, go no further. Leave this chimerical imprint in the pages of destiny. For the new tome of the story radically changes the narrative arc.

Back from the land of shadows, Morbidelli embarks on a path far removed from his original virtues. The Italian brand had made its name with small sports machines and multiple world championship titles. In contrast, its new-age range includes scooters, a young-displacement roadster and a large cruiser. Nothing to do with its past, near or far. We're particularly interested in the imposing C 1002 V, the only model announced for our country in the immediate future.

a large trail bike is also in the pipeline. For now, let's take a look at this Morbidelli machine. Already seen under the MBP label created by Keeway, it has crossed half the planet to conquer various markets with a healthy dose of metal in its belly. Its aluminum frame houses a new 997 cm3 V-twin, manufactured by Gaokin.

An almost modest displacement compared to the competition's substantial boxing gloves. Except that this block is water-cooled, putting it in a different league from the Harley Fat Boy, Indian Chief or BMW R 18. The C 1002 V wants to show modernism while licking a half-retro, half-cruising look.

So, this block is in the vein of the 1000s, with modern technical solutions... and a little less. First surprise: you may think you're looking at a 90° V-Twin like a Ducat', but it actually opens to 80°. The engine features fuel injection, liquid cooling, 4 valves per cylinder but only one camshaft per cylinder head, an average compression ratio (10.3:1) and acceptable power, but no more. The Pesaro and Wenling custom claims 87 hp and just over 9 mkg of torque. Will it make up for it in character? The manufacturer has given it two, with Sport and Touring driving modes.

Morbidelli C1002V not really a disappointment. Let's just say that its muscular appearance suggests a lot more wattage. Long, a little disquieting, with muscles drawn like Dragon Ball Z, the C1002V assures a strong presence. The Honda Rebel headlight and Rocket III-like stern tickle our copying instincts. As for the rest of the bike, it appears to be well cared for, with a commitment to quality: inverted fork and Kayaba shock absorber, dual 320 mm brake discs, 4-piston radial calipers (from J.Juan), aluminum chassis, 5-inch color TFT speedo, ABS, cruise control, USB socket, large 240 mm rear tire, very low seat height of 68 cm from the ground and, as is customary in this category, belt drive.

Weight-wise, it's also a surprise. a dry weight of 268 kg crushes your foot. But given the machine's presence and the club it wants to play in, it's almost reasonable.

The custom Morbidelli C1002V is more than suggestive, with a motorized approach not necessarily charming but personal and not borrowed from any inspirer. UK pricing suggests a range of between €13,000 and €14,000. Sandwiched between a CMX and a Nightster.
