presentation of the CALIFORNIA 1100 90eme anniversaire 2012
this California could be limited to its superb color and limited edition. But respect deserves to be paid to it, because this Guzzi represents many years of motorcycle production. Firstly, it's a motorcycle whose original design dates back 40 years - quite a record for a bike. Secondly, it celebrates the brand's 90th anniversary. Who can claim to have been around that long? BMW, perhaps... Created in 1916, 5 years before Guzzi; except that Béhème didn't bring out its R32 until 1923 - 2 years before, the Italian presented its first 499 cm3.
After this little journey through time, let's return to this 90th anniversary limited series. Derived from an 1100 Vintage, this California plays the retro card to the hilt, with a two-tone white and orange paint scheme, emblazoned with a typical '30s Guzzi logo. The seat, specific to this version, is in brown leather. Equipment includes, among other things, a limited-series nameplate, a set of side cases, windscreen, additional headlights, coupled braking, spoked wheels, chrome and, above all, the big air-cooled twin - which may well bow out with this forty-something Calif. Indeed, a new generation with a liquid 1400 is expected for 2013. So this is much more than a collector's item; it could well be the last page in a big chapter of motorcycle history.
