presentation of the GRISO 1200 8V 2011
when you've got a face like the Griso's, you can feel like a wild beast. Sometimes, muscularity just isn't enough... and that's why Mandello's big, ballsy roadster asked its progenitors for a mutation. The transverse twin has been given proportions more in keeping with its charisma. More displacement and doubled valves for the new Griso 8V engine.
a Guzzi engine is a transverse twin, and that's not about to change, especially on such a sculptural machine. Conservatism and modernity go hand in hand on this engine. From the cooling system to the valve timing to the new injectors, no fewer than 563 components are new since the innovative "Quattrovalvole". This evolution of the 1200 (75% of parts replaced) now produces 110 hp at 7,500 rpm. Apart from the MGS-01 Corsa's supercharged engine, this is the most powerful mill ever designed by Guzzi. Perfect for this big, respectable roadster, whose powerful character can now be identified right down to the exhaust pipe. Its new double 8 tailpipe design is a formidable evocation of the Griso's grunt side.
This new molding is not the only evolution of the Griso. Its braking system has been upgraded with petal discs and radial calipers. The chassis remains virtually identical to that of the 1100, with a tubular steel frame linked to a 43 mm inverted fork treated with carbon nitride and an impressive cardan monobar. Suspension settings are more adjustable. Sitting on this long, low, rocky silhouette, the rider adopts a sportier position: the footrests are positioned further back, the black anodized aluminum handlebars are different, and the seat has a new design - all to give him a better feel for the machine with its more streamlined body.
The new Griso 8V is now ready to take on the competition. Its heart transplant gives it a more powerful heartbeat, a stronger breath and an identity that's as distinctive as ever. The new Italian eagle can soar in all its majesty.
