presentation of the XJR 1300 2011
Powerful and velvety, with the charm of a big, torquey 4-cylinder and classic styling, the XJR 1300 was, still is and continues to flourish. In the dark corners of the city, Z 1000s, FZ1s, S4Rs Monsters and KTM Superdukes battle it out, clawing at the asphalt and protecting their territory, watching for the arrival of the B-King. But you're not one of them - you're more into sipping cognac and listening to soothing music than feverish hard rock. Your thing is the XJR, its air-cooled 4-cylinder melody, muscular, chubby, from another time and as endearing as a good country foie gras.
the years go by and time doesn't seem able to slap Yamaha's big, classy roadster in the face. Only anti-pollution standards seem to make it cough. But 2007 is the year when the XJR stretches its bronchi. What's in it for us? A small injection transplant (from the 2004 R1), modified intake camshafts, and a new and unique catalyzed exhaust, equipped with an EXUP; bye-bye to the 2 mufflers, which refines the silhouette when viewed from behind, and reveals a strange, unmistakable look.the rear lights are now LED, and their design is very similar to that of the first-generation R6. Aesthetically, this is the only visible change (along with the pot and the new white turn signal caps). There are also a few changes to the damping, for a little more rigor, and a slightly revised riding position.
in addition to passing Euro 3, fuel injection will allow the XJR to show off its appetite. Its big mill has never been renowned for its sobriety, but on the contrary for its generosity, in many areas. What's more, with this big roadster, there's nothing to stop you teasing the young streetfighter - this old lion can still bite, even if its capabilities and pretensions are from another time; or rather, another generation.

Just changed the clutch receiver at 42,000 kms
I wouldn't sell this bike for anything in the world, after all, everyone has to find the machine that suits them! For me, it's the xjr... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Cris59
For daily commuting, it's a safe bet, very reliable and comfortable in all weathers. The XJR makes all the difference in a duo, thanks to its comfort, the flexibility of the engine and the torque that keeps you in 5th gear most of the time
I tried out a nineTpure as a duo, and it's tough
I'm selling my bike because I ride it a lot (already 68,000 without a care in the world) and replacing it with an equivalent (CB 1100RS), for the comfort of my wife! Rating : 4/5 Respond to Jluc
I'm on Reunion Island
And I would like to know if air and oil cooling in a hot country all year round would not be a disadvantage for a 2008 1300 xjr
Merci et bonne route Rating : 4/5 Respond to Zazou
these years.
But it's true that it has weaknesses, like starting up in winter.
i own one in 2013, and that's the case. Rating : 5/5 Respond to jim

powerful, easy to handle in the city and mountains, long journeys without tiring, even without a windscreen. Mine has reached 20,000 km, just change the battery for a more powerful amperage (18a) so as not to have the problem with the injections. sober, fully comprehensive insurance 364â'¬, fuel consumption 5l on average, 8l in town.
It's the 1st bike I've kept this long. Rating : 5/5 Respond to chris

I'm thinking of buying an XJR 1300 from
2009.
But I'm afraid to devour my budget in fuel consumption, indeed I consult the forums and forced to see contradictory opinions, so what is it really.
thank you in advance Rating : 3/5 Participate in the conversation
I personally regret the two exhausts, but it's a blast to ride.
Regardless of performance, it's a smooth, powerful and comfortable machine.
We'll have to see how it fares over time.
See you soon. Rating : 4/5 Respond to budo11
Don't hesitate any longer... Rating : 5/5 Respond to FRED
very endearing engine, a limousine pulled by a huge rubber band at every turn.
Good appetite for kerosene, and a glutton for consumables if you tease it too often. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Old boy
My regrets on my CB 750 Four, the legendary CB750Four (mythical bike of the 70s), the look and the noise (only K0 and K1).
The CB 1100 is coming to France, but with less torque and less power, and I don't know if I'll take the plunge and part with my XJR for a CB 1100, to be continued ....

Without doubt, the last man's bike! Rating : 5/5 Respond to manu
Yam didn't put much effort into the decor, too bad!
It's also a shame not to be able to choose between grey and black engines!
The main thing is that the career of this mythical bike continues...bravo Yamaha! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Jim
Frame problem: the center stand support is welded at an angle to the frame. The bike leans to the right when it's put on the center stand, and you need a one-centimeter shim under the right stand pad to get the bike straight!
Then there's the engine problem: the idle locks up at 3,000 rpm, and the bike churns when travelling at a constant speed. Yamaha Motor France's reply: "It's normal, everything's fine... I'll have to take legal action..
These manufacturing defects concern a small series of machines, so beware of future buyers of this model: trouble ahead, and Yam France won't budge to solve it. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Cxjr62
i'm going to mamuser on the mountain roads, and be able to go for a ride a+ et bonne route

i bought 3 xjr in a row, this says a lot about what I think of the bike
I've just sold it to buy a big trail bike because I'm going to do some trail riding in Africa
The XJR set a great machine that gave me and my passenger nothing but pleasure, it's very reliable, pushes hard.... it's really great and timeless

Many modifications, seat comfort, on-board computer, suspension, riding position
This charming, torquey roadster is a joy to drive, with impeccable roadholding
No regrets, Yamaha listens to its customers and has modified the weak points of the previous versions, and that's a big plus for this bike, which has stood the test of time without a wrinkle
PS: In your review, you say that the bike is "out of step with fashion". I don't think it's very clever to base the appreciation of a roadster on the effects of fashion, either because the editor is too young to appreciate it, or because he hasn't understood the spirit of this bike
Its seventies look is precisely what sets it apart from other roadsters
Its power has nothing to envy compared to other more "modern" roadsters.
When you look at the on-board electronics on new motorcycles, and the cost of repairing these components, the xjr is still the most powerful roadster on the market
The xjr is still one of the few motorcycles where you can get your hands dirty
A mini bubble is a must if you do a lot of highway riding, as the wind resistance is quite high
If you want to tear up the tarmac, don't hesitate to have it debrided, and it will go from 98 to 140hp
