presentation of the 850 V9 Bobber Sport 2019
Guzzi and sport go back a long way. A time illustrated by the 1000 Daytona, the Ghezzi-Brian or the unusual MGS-01 Corsa. Since then, the brand has concentrated on classic machines, letting passion take precedence over excitement.
And yet, it seems to be itching a little. The proof is this V9 Bobber Sport, eager to be the meanest and most dynamic of the family.
circuit or café-racer for this special series? Not the type, not the desire. More a claim to vitality, shown by a fruity color scheme, a refined look and a pair of Öhlins shock absorbers. The rear axle will benefit from greater rigor, with these quality components offering more adjustability.
motorcycle sport is also about riding position. Aggressive or stooped, it must provoke a thrill and a more or less pronounced affiliation with discomfort ;-). This wish has been fulfilled with the installation of set-back footpegs, lower handlebars and a thinner single-seater seat.
it's not so much performance as styling that will make the Bobber Sport stand out.the two-tone color scheme is pretty cool, the streamlined rear further justifies the bobber appellation, and little details are sure to fuel post-ride inspection debates. Shortened front mudguard, added fork gaiters, mini windscreen, headlight stepped down a notch, and larger airbox cover plates.
and the twin-cylinder? Unchanged, it seems. Not really powerful with its 55 hp, but proud of its character and endowed with more generous torque than the V7s (still not enough to bolt the tire...). On the other hand, the sound will be more present with a specific exhaust system.
After a V7 family abundantly fattened with variations, here comes the V9 to make its mark. Except that it's not so much a dress as a fang. It's not enough to make it bleed.
