presentation of the 350 1972
It was at the 1972 Motocycle Show that we had our first glimpse of a prototype 350 Motobécane, which resembled the final version in all but aesthetic detail.
This bike was far superior in technological innovations to its Japanese rivals of the time, giving it a very endearing personality. A limited number of models were produced, mainly for the domestic market.
The color: mostly yellow. But why? Well, it looked good in red! Another alternative: apple green.... no comment!
Noise: a 3-cylinder, two-stroke engine from the 70s makes a lot of noise. That's just the way it is.
But when, in addition to the exhaust, there's also the sound of sprockets and slamming pistons, it's a mess, that's for sure.
As for the rest, at the risk of making you laugh, it's pretty well thought-out. Superb lighting (whereas the competition offered a 'flashlight'), trouble-free electronic ignition, good braking .... at the front, decent roadholding (in relation to the competition), very good range. But it arrived too late on the market (2 years after its launch!! ......), was too expensive and didn't offer the same speed performance as the competition.
According to MBK , around 760 units were produced, and only a few hundred are still alive...
