presentation of the F4 1000 R 2015
for 2015, the F4s make no secret of their desire to evolve. The R version is a my 2014 carried over to the catalog; only the F4 1000 standard and RR are branded 2015. And when it comes to the unreal, the RC takes care of the fantasy. The competition has remarkably raised the level of the category. And yet, Varese's hypersport doesn't disappoint. Inside, there's horsepower, lots of it. The recently redesigned 4-cylinder engine boasts more super-square internal dimensions than the previous generation F4. With a bore increased to 79 mm and a stroke reduced to 50.9 mm, the result is a boiler with dynamite in the combustion chambers, while still allowing a reasonable linear piston speed. It allows the diva to join the trio of the most powerful hypersports, announcing over 195 hp at 13,400 rpm. Enough to take on the BMW S 1000 RR, tickle the Kawasaki ZX-10R, Yamaha R1 and Aprilia RSV4 RR... and laugh your head off when reading the CBR 1000 and RC8-R spec sheets. The viscera and equipment are flattering: variable intake, anti-dribble system, 8-level traction control and four handlebar-selectable engine maps. But as a respectful sibling of the one that gave it so much, the R gives back 6 horsepower and a ladle of torque to the RR. Prestige oblige.
the various electronic assistants are now grouped under the name MVCIS (Motor and Vehicle Integrated Control System). Alongside this monogram, we discover a host of small details that appeared in 2013: lED daytime running lights on the leading edge of the air intake, lightened wheels, rebalanced crankshaft, titanium connecting rods, variable intake, a redesigned oil circuit and exhausts, a shifter, an Öhlins TTX shock absorber and 1 kilo less on the scales. 2014 saw the serial arrival of ABS, sporty as it should be: the Bosch 9MP.
very powerful but not unattainable, the F4 1000 R is positioned right in between the sporty basic F4 and the extreme F4 RR. The R here costs 2,000 euros, which gives you food for thought, but to have the privilege of displaying 2 R's side by side on the fairing, you'll have to shell out 7,000.
With its fighter-plane temperament, its engine designed to scream and spit everything it's got into the revs, its timeless silhouette and its honed chassis, the F4 1000 R's playground promises to be a fiery sport, very close to violence. The Varese factory has even gone so far as to include a passenger, as if the latter could even imagine for a second that he or she would be welcome aboard...
