presentation of the F4 1000 R Corsa Corta 2013
when the 1000 R inherited the CorsaCorta engine, it was the basic F4 model. A few improvements later, it earned its stripes and became the intermediate model between a standard 1000 already copious in power and the subliminal tool that is the RR.
inside, there's plenty of horsepower. The newly redesigned 4-cylinder engine boasts more super-square internal dimensions than the previous generation F4. With a bore increased to 79 mm and a stroke reduced to 50.9 mm, you get a boiler that's full of dynamite in the combustion chambers, while still allowing a reasonable linear piston speed. It allows the diva to join the trio of the most powerful hypersports, announcing over 195 hp at 13,400 rpm. Enough to take on the BMW S 1000 RR and tickle the Kawasaki ZX-10R... and to die laughing when reading the R1 and CBR 1000 datasheets. The viscera and equipment are flattering: variable intake, anti-dribble system, 8-level traction control and four handlebar-selectable engine maps. But as a respectful sibling of the one that gave it so much, the R gives back 6 horsepower and a ladle of torque to the RR. Prestige oblige.
the various electronic assistants are now grouped under the name MVCIS (Motor and Vehicle Integrated Control System). Alongside the new monogram, a host of small details have been added for the 2013 model year: new LED daytime running lights on the leading edge of the air intake, lightened wheels, a rebalanced crankshaftnew shifter, Öhlins TTX shock absorber and 1 kilo less weight on the scales.
powerful but not unattainable, the F4 1000 R is positioned right between the sporty F4 base model and the extreme F4 RR. The R here costs 2,000 euros, which gives you food for thought, but to have the privilege of displaying 2 R's side by side on the fairing, you'll have to shell out 7,000.
With its fighter-plane temperament, its engine designed to scream and spit everything it's got into the revs, its timeless silhouette and its honed chassis, the F4 1000 R's playground promises to be a fiery sport, very close to violence. The Varese factory has even gone so far as to include a passenger, as if the latter could even imagine for a second that he or she would be welcome aboard...
