presentation of the RVS #1 2018
For some time now, some manufacturers have had their own customization departments, or have developed customization programs. Harley-Davidson has its CVO (Custom Vehicle Operation) workshop, Yamaha has launched the Yard Built plan, Honda, Suzuki or Voxan have collaborated with Boxer Design. And as the neo-retro wave grows, so does the desire to create and accessorize.
Now it's MV-Agusta's turn to get in on the act. To satisfy requests or anticipate particular, even extravagant, desires, the Varese-based brand has created the Reparto Veicoli Speciali. A discreet place, where expression is combined with fine workmanship on selected materials.
to give a concrete vision to this section, MV exhibits and offers its first fruit: RVS #1. A preparation capable of demonstrating the potential of the specialized department from which it takes its name. A device emerging from the shadows of Stephen King's novels to try and coax creatures from other spaces. Ridley Scott couldn't have found a better machine to accompany the aliens of his universe.
the 800 Dragster RR was chosen as the base. Hours of pencilling, creation and machining went into overdrive on this one. RVS #1 is mean, exacerbated, and crafted from every angle. The headlight alone sums up the machine's philosophy: its perimeter reproduces part of the MV-Agusta logo; inside, a set of LEDs linked to an inertial platform modulates the illumination of the light segments according to the bike's inclination and speed. The porthole houses a multitude of light sources, a veritable timepiece of light.
as on the Dragster, the main structure is entrusted to the famous frame combining tubular steel trellises and delicately machined aluminum side plates, with the RVS logo engraved in the right-hand section. All around, the number of special parts is breathtaking.
From the Kineo spoked wheels, with their specially machined profile, to the provocative Pirelli MT 60 RS treaded tires. To this pair of additional headlights mounted laterally on a carbon support. Or the specific Sunstar Batfly brake discs, the very special leather saddle (embroidered buccaneer/terminator motif, with red stitching at the rear and a honeycomb pattern on the rider's side), the dashboard mounted on a part sourced directly from the C.R.C (the MV research center in San Marino), or the plethora of special elements: brake and clutch jar covers, grips, levers, fuel filler cap, crankcase protectors, supports and footrests... the full list will ensure a night of discussion with an MV-Agusta representative.
The stern is one of the least modified parts, but there is still a smoked coating on the taillights.
The special vehicles department couldn't be satisfied with a generous exterior makeover. The engine must also be of the same ilk. The 3-cylinder with counter-rotating crankshaft gains a handful of horsepower to set a maximum of 150 units at 12,800 rpm. The timing chain tensioner, starter motor, camshafts, valves and gas flow in the combustion chambers have all been improved. Tonic, raging and expressive, this block will delight in powering a machine that has lost 8 kilos compared to the original. 160 kilos to push, a real laugh. The exhaust is no exception: a titanium SC Project muffler ensures exhilarating vocals.
this will be a limited series, at a notoriously indecent price. Each model will have a titanium plate engraved with its serial number. What's more, the beast comes with a box containing a whole host of additional parts for more muscular use: racing silencer, ECU with race mapping, protective cover, engine guard, lever guard in titanium and ergal, etc... The MV-Agusta 800 RVS #1 shifts your retina; its pretensions are sure to keep the show going.
