For the coming season, RST, the British brand whose involvement in the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy is inseparable from its identity, is evolving its benchmark suit. The Pro Series model, successfully launched in 2021, takes a new step forward with its Evo version, retaining its role as spearhead in the democratization of wireless airbag technology for motorcyclists, all for a retail price that remains under the 1,300 euro mark.

This new suit, less exclusive than the V4.1, targets a clientele of occasional riders, track-days enthusiasts and confirmed competitors looking for high-performance protection at an affordable price. Its unique positioning is legitimized by RST's long experience in the sports and racing segment, where the brand is both the equipment supplier of numerous riders and the official safety partner of the Tourist Trophy.

The heart of the system is based on In&motion's Essential wireless technology, an intelligent box capable of analyzing the rider's position 1,000 times per second to anticipate and detect a fall. If detected, the airbag deploys in less than 60 milliseconds to protect vital areas such as the thorax, abdomen, back and neck. RST's development team, made up of motorcycling enthusiasts and competitors, has focused on ensuring that the system's integration is as effective as the suit itself, a mission validated by feedback from the track.

The Pro Series Airbag Evo is made from top-quality full-grain cowhide leather, 1.1 to 1.3 mm thick. Critical areas are lined for enhanced abrasion resistance, while micro-perforated leather panels promote air circulation, essential for rider comfort. Ergonomics have been optimized with four-way stretch leather inserts on the arms and legs, which stretch specifically to accompany airbag deployment without compressing the rider. Stretch zones are also present along the body for optimum comfort.

In terms of passive safety, the suit is rated AAA by CE certification, the highest level of protection for racing suits. It incorporates a protection kit certified to European standards, with level 2 protection for shoulders, elbows and hips, and level 1 for knees. External TPU reinforcements on the shoulders and elbows enhance impact and abrasion resistance. On the inside, a Kevlar insert protects the coccyx area, while a rubberized DuPont Kevlar application on the inside of the knees improves grip on the tank. The package is completed by a quick-drying 3D mesh lining, contributing to moisture management and overall comfort, an aerodynamic back hump, and quick-release knee sliders.
