MV-Agusta presented some nice surprises for the end of the year. Its 950 Enduro Veloce with more equipment and no price increase, a superb new 950 Brutale, and a simply astonishing new engine.
Following the unexpected appearance of the 5-cylinder engine concept at EICMA 2025, the brand shares further information on this engineering masterpiece, whose development is already underway in the R&D department at the brand's headquarters in Schiranna, Italy.
This all-new 5-cylinder quadrato engine platform represents the next step in performance, innovation and Italian engineering excellence.

Multiple displacements and plenty of power
With modular displacement ranging from 850 cm3 to 1150 cm3, the platform is capable of delivering over 240 hp at over 16,000 rpm and up to an astonishing 135 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm, while retaining exceptional smoothness and compactness.
This 5-cylinder weighs just under 60 kg. Quite a performance in itself; by comparison, the 800 block of the F3 and Brutale weighs in at 52 kg. This block combines lightness and balance with advanced electrification, thanks to a water pump and electric oil pump that enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
Its architecture offers intrinsic advantages: thanks to its unique 5-cylinder firing order, the engine achieves exceptional torque distribution and driveability without the need for variable valve timing, ensuring both optimum low-end utilization and maximum power.
A distinctive crankshaft configuration, with a 3-cylinder front crankshaft and a U-shaped two-cylinder rear crankshaft, offers remarkable smoothness and reduced vibration, resulting in unrivalled refinement and dynamic balance. This most unusual layout reminds us a little of the Horex VR6, but is in fact closer to the 4-cylinder squares of the Kawasaki 750 Square Four (prototype), Suzuki RG 500 Gamma, Ariel Square Four and some Yamaha competition bikes.

The result is an engine narrower than an inline four and shorter than a V4, setting a new benchmark for compact, high-performance design.
The launch of the 5-cylinder engine is planned for"a long-awaited model no longer in the catalog", to be unveiled in the next few years. Is a hypersport in the pipeline, heralding the return of the F4? By the way, will it be called F4 or F5? With 240 hp, it would instantly establish itself as the absolute benchmark in its segment in terms of power. It all depends on the future of MV-Agusta, which has been on a roller-coaster ride since its rebirth at the turn of the century.

Rare in history
The 5-cylinder is a type of engine rarely encountered in motorcycle history. The most famous is the Honda RC211V MotoGP machine, which ran from 2002 to 2006 in the hands of Rossi, Hayden, Biaggi, Giberneau and Melandri. In the 60s, there was also the RC149. Still a Honda, and an extraordinary one at that, with its little 5-cylinder 125 cm3 4-stroke, capable of 38 hp and an engine speed of 23,000 rpm.
We can also mention the chimerical Mondialmoto V5S, a projection by a small Italian manufacturer that only saw the light of day on a computer screen.
