News HJC teams up with Marvel again for its RPHA 12 Anti-Venom II full-face helmet.

Anti-Venom takes control of the HJC Rpha 12.

Four years after the Rpha 11 Anti-Venom, HJC brings the comic book character back for its Rpha 12. The design of this Anti-Venom II edition draws on the visual elements of the symbiote (born from the fusion of Eddie Brock and the powers of Mr. Negative in the Marvel Universe). The helmet features a white base—characteristic of the character—contrasted by purple and yellow elements. A rough-looking, asymmetrical texture completes the overall aesthetic of this series.

The RPHA 12: Updated to Meet the ECE 22.06 Standard

Introduced to the catalog as the successor to the line that began with the RPHA 10 in 2010, the RPHA 12 represents HJC’s sport-touring offering, positioned between the track-oriented RPHA 1 and the versatile F71 helmet.

This 2024 model marks the range’s transition to the ECE 22.06 certification standard. The shell, available in four sizes (ranging from 2XS to 2XL), uses the P.I.M. EVO manufacturing process, a multi-fiber construction designed to minimize weight while ensuring impact absorption. The ergonomic fit is complemented by five sizes of EPS liners inside.

Redesigned Visor and Ventilation

The RPHA 12 is equipped with the HJ-42 2D visor. It features a new mounting mechanism that allows for tool-free removal, as well as a locking system that is now offset to the left side. The visor comes with a Pinlock MaxVision 120 anti-fog lens, whose upper seal is concealed beneath the helmet’s seal to avoid obstructing the field of vision when the rider adopts a high-speed riding position. The visor is also pre-equipped for the installation of tear-offs.

The ventilation system has been redesigned compared to the RPHA 11. The front features new air intakes at the chin guard and forehead. The side air intakes, operated via a silicone strap, have been redesigned to distribute internal airflow or dissipate it when the vents are closed. Hot air is exhausted through vents concealed beneath the rear aerodynamic spoiler.

Aerodynamics and Internal Fit

The helmet’s outer shell underwent wind tunnel testing to reduce aerodynamic drag and noise-inducing turbulence. For example, the HJ-42 visor is curved at its mounting plates to conform to the convex shape of the shell, while a bypass channel is integrated into the vents to regulate surface airflow. An anti-vortex flap and a snug-fitting neck roll have been integrated to enhance sound insulation.

Inside, the comfort foam pads are mounted on a standardized attachment system, allowing the ear cushions to be replaced with different thicknesses depending on the wearer’s head shape. The cheek pads feature a quick-release system designed for emergency responders in the event of an accident. The fabric used is treated to provide antibacterial and odor-resistant properties and to promote sweat wicking.
