Motorcycle specifications RAPOMRapom V8 2007 The ultimate sick machine
presentation of the Rapom V8 2007
In the family of crazy machines, we distinguish 3 series: hypersports, competition machines that can barely be used on the road; ground-to-ground missiles, such as theHayabusa or the ZZR 1400, pure TGVs in search of maximum speed; and finally, demonic creations bordering on the imaginary, who die laughing when you talk to them about 200 hp sports bikes.
One of the best-known, theY2K, is one of these, with over 320 hp provided by its helicopter turbine. More recently, Dodge has upped the ante with a 500 hp Tomahawk , powered by the famous Viper engine. But these machines weren't enough for Nick Argyl, an Englishman like no other who pushed the limits of mechanical madness.
His name is RAPOM V8. Its heart beats to the rhythm of 8 cylinders. A big engine that takes up an enormous amount of space, making this motorcycle an exceptional machine. Consider that, despite its weight of 454 kg, the Rapom offers a power-to-weight ratio of over 2:1, better than that of a MotoGP. Think it's a typo? Not at all. In fact, the power of this V8 outclasses that of a latest-generation GSX-R 1000 by a factor of more than 5.
1,000 horsepower! At least. That's right. This bike is more powerful than a Bugatti Veyron. And it can produce up to 1,200 horsepower, depending on the fuel used and the air sucked in. And that's where it gets interesting. The designer didn't just install an 8,193 cm3 V-twin behemoth. First, he fueled it with ethanol, just to get the fire going. Then he grafted a compressor onto it. Now you know you'd have to be a complete fool to dare open the door wide. Both the numbers and the look of this bike are simply frightening. It's huge, it's a monster, and it's superbly made. But what does the tubular steel chassis think of all this power? It must be in as much agony as the rear tire. Square, oversized, it's up to it to absorb twice the power of a Ferrari. And what about the tubular swingarm, as strong as the chassis - it seems completely lost in this mechanical hell. And as for the transmission, it's not even a cardan shaft that takes the strain... No, no, it's a classic chain; well, a little reinforced. A hoist chain can't do much better.
If we're going to be crazy, let's go all the way. Is it a reinforced Superbike swingarm or a pressurized MotoGP Öhlins inverted fork that takes care of the front end? Que dale!
While the steering column and tees look like they could support a tank, the fork is a completely standard model, finished with a single brake disc and a modest 6-piston caliper.
The design is as frightening as the machine's braking capabilities. It's violent, insane and brilliant. And if the front end has as much panache and bitterness as a Terminator, the rear seems the fruit of less metallic, more carnal work, with this posterior blending the curves of Suzuki Hayabusa and MV-Agusta F4 backsplashes. If you're tempted to ride it, be aware that there are only 2 gears and a reverse gear, and don't forget your earplugs: the exhausts are nowhere to be seen. And the price? Come on, gentlemen, come on, behave yourself..
