cBF 600, Fazer, Z 750, Hornet, ZR-7, SVN... The Bandit has lost count of the number of teases it has to compete with in the medium-displacement roadster market. It still tops the sales charts in France, but is beginning to age. A facelift will do it some good. Suzuki is working on this for the 2005 livery, and intends to take advantage of the opportunity to remedy its main shortcoming: an overly hollow character at low and mid-range revs. How can this be achieved? With a new engine?
Not at all. It's still the good old air- and oil-cooled block that occupies the GSF's double tubular cradle frame. But for the occasion, its displacement has been increased by 3 mm to 656 cm3. Power remains at 78 horsepower, while torque is up by 1 mkg, obtained at 2,000 rpm less than the old unit. All in all, a significant improvement in driving pleasure.
Aesthetically, the N roadster benefits from only minor alterations. A small cowling joins the headlight to the meters, scoops are fitted between the radiator and the fuel tank, the exhaust is no longer bevelled, the rear body has been refined and the side covers (behind the carburettors) modified. The most obvious changes are the new seat, which can now be adjusted in height, and the introduction of ABS. For the S tourer, the fork head gets new optics and new rear-view mirrors.

don't be fooled into thinking that Suzuki has simply painted the engine black and added a pot of yoghurt to renew its best-seller. Far from it, the old GSX-R block is still going strong. And its latest modifications give it a few more years of sunshine. In addition to a larger bore, the cylinder liners have received special treatment, the pistons and rings have been redesigned, and the new timing diagram improves torque at normal engine speeds.
10 years is a time to celebrate, and the Bandit 650 blows out its candles by sweeping away the performance of its forebear. When it comes to acceleration (cruel for mid-size 4-cylinders), the 650 leaves the 600 in its wake. At any engine speed, the 2005 GSF happily takes off. When the old one struggles, the new one soars. All you have to do is shift into last gear and screw down to notice the enormous difference. The 650 responds from 3,000 rpm, making you feel that it has much more boot. The Bandit 2000-2004, on the other hand, is desperately trying to find watts. But to no avail, it only has watts in the rev range.

SUZUKI GSF 650 BANDITAnd even when it comes to revs, the 2005 doesn't need any lessons. It offers the same power as the 600, but the maximum torque is greater and available much sooner. The result is a much more pleasant engine, smoother and less aggressive, though still furious when approaching the red zone. The Suz roadster is already winning precious points.
And it's even better on the road. The fork looks the same, but the tubes have changed. Better hydraulic management, preload adjustment, spring optimization, the old Bandit is disgusted; it has just received the coup de grace. With a front axle that lacks firmness and can't stand ageing, she knows she can't fight. No mercy on the croissants! The Bandit 650 is invigorated, confident in its more rigorous front end, where a sport shoe can hang on. Chipotle: the new GSF is a tad less alert due to a slightly higher front tire, but it makes up for it with much better stability, brakes that have finally found some bite (hey, miss SV, blow your pads and discs...!), and very well-made tires.
While the Suz is making an effort with its adjustable seat and handlebars, it's a shame that the attractive chrome meters have disappeared. The new ones, although fully digital, don't arouse the same enthusiasm.

with a fuller engine and improved dynamics, the Suzuki GSF 650 intends to keep its place among the top sellers in France. Not only does it look good, but with a price tag of just over €6,000, the Bandit is sure to continue its hold-up.

Hello, Amazing motorcycle I'm a fan of racing bikes but the bandit in everyday use, especially with my 8 year old, is a class of its own in Dallas Rating : 5/5
French Model 2006
Hello I own the 650 S since June 2006 it has 52000km now it is a little heavy for handling without engine but it's a great bike I had the 600 but for a woman the 650 with ABS is top V Rating : 5/5
French Model 2006
hello, it was a bit heavy to start with but when you get used to it, everything's fine, you just have to be careful when you stop, because then you recent the weight, but I have to say that I'm small, but on the road its weight is an asset, it handles very well, you just have to step on the gas when you take a bend and it's a delight. After a short first experience with a 2001 750 ZR7 N (15,000kms), I wanted to find a good all-round bike (duo, protection...) but with a slightly better chassis, a bit more modern and a bit more torque.
Bandit 650S 2006, two words to describe this bike: ease and versatility.
A real bike, I find myself thinking "I'm dragging myself a bit here", but a quick glance at the speedometer quickly changes my mind, especially in the corners.
A chassis riveted to the road, the engine is linear...I'm very (too) often in the red zone, but it picks up at all speeds, it has torque for a 650, almost similar to my old zr7.
A pain in the ass after 100kms though, and a bubble that's way too low.
I won't change this bike until I feel like going bigger, and not before, in at least 20,000kms or more.
A lot of riders change before they've used 1/3 of their bikes... with the bandit, that won't be my case.

yes, I love it, it's supple, responsive, easy to handle in town or in the country. I don't ask it to perform superbly, but to take me from point a to point b with a minimum of feeling. well, that's done. Rating : 5/5
bon roadster routier mid size
French rene Model 2005
a good mid-size roadster, in a nutshell. It's a good roadster because it handles well (adjustable front and rear suspensions), because the engine is smooth but willing to rev, even if it doesn't have the zzr600 puff that I had before, and it's a mid-size roadster because the position is natural and the engine can cover long distances. On the other hand, you'd do well to stop before every fill-up (300kms), as the poorly designed saddle quickly hurts your buttocks, and vibrations are not absent. For more (auto)road use, I recommend the gsxf750 (same SACS air- and oil-cooled engine base), or even the gsxf650 (new water-cooled engine). Rating : 4/5

I'm 36 years old, my 1st motorcycle, I'm delighted with it, I didn't want a sporty bike, and I didn't want something sluggish, the Bandit 650 is exactly what I needed, it's got plenty of punch, very good torque, roadholding that's largely sufficient for rides and work commutes (40 kms), and for overtaking... 0 to 100 in 3.6s! no problem at all. :-)

On the other hand, I'd like to point out that there's an error on the Bandit 650's 2005/2006 spec sheet: the front tire is a 120/70/17 and not a 120/60/17.

Satsfait mais décu possédant une bandit N avec ABS, rien n'a redire pour sa silouhette, sa maniabilité et son raport poid puissance, un vrai bohneur. But after 4500 km, the first-second shift is too dry. Some play in the original mirrors and a lack of braking on the rear tire. Rating : 5/5

I'm 53, after a long hiatus from motorcycling, I've been riding a 500cbs honda and for the past three days I've been lucky enough to be able to ride a 650 badit "S". I've owned a 650 Bandit for 15 months now, and there's not much to complain about, except that the chassi is a bit limited when you adopt a more sporty riding style. Otherwise, it's supple and easy to handle, despite its considerable weight. The torque compared with the 600 is nothing to compare with, and with a muffler, the noise is not unpleasant. With soft rubber tires like the bt-014 Bridgeston, it's a real treat Rating : 5/5
French BZR Team Model 2005
that's it, I've done a few kilometers, I'm at 4500km and still no problems! I do all kinds of rides, long, short, mountain, sea, countryside! Nothing but happiness!
The consumables are of very good quality, to announce a little my driving, I changed my rear tire at 3500km, having done 1000km of break-in and yet, the pads look almost new, the chain kit has almost no wear! It's a great bike!
Rating : 5/5
I bought it 3 months ago, 2500km, a delight and very maneuverable in town despite its weight, smooth engine ... in short many qualities so I will dwell on the defects: suspension suffering on bad pavement, gearbox a little stiff on 2 1st gears, fuel consumption in town. Rating : 5/5

I bought it new in June 2005
I think it's a pretty versatile bike that lets you enjoy yourself without getting scared. I find the braking very effective, the roadholding good, the handling excellent, and it's very comfortable. I really like the precise gearbox

On the other hand, I find the bike's finish disappointing: Neutral indicator diode burnt out, rear brake seized up, play in the mirrors

i don't regret my purchase, as the quality/price ratio still seems good (N version bought new at 5700 euros), but I'm going to hesitate to buy a Suzuki for my next bike ....

And still me, I'm at 8000kms and still just as satisfied. Since the last time I had a comfort saddle made, I've had the seat rounded off, lowered by 3cm (given my height) and thanks to the backsplash, it changes the riding position 100% (and what a loock!) which adds even more to my satisfaction. My next purchase will be a wheel washer to protect it a little more in case of rain. I'm still on the original tires, not even 50% worn, and I'm attacking normally (excellent original tires, by the way)
Have a good ride and always be careful, see you soon.

Still months after 4 months, it's the bike for forty-somethings (I'm making up words). I'm still as satisfied as ever and now have 5000kms. I've just done 600kms on the car, excellent acceleration (everything is relative (78hp only), but sufficient especially as there were two of us. Speed, heuuuu, prohibited and 6.1L/100. Daily use to get to work.
In conclusion, I have no regrets about this purchase for an old man of 45

I've had it for 3 months, 2600 km N and red version, devil magnum cartridge: superb sound, young look and decent power: lots of torque compared to the 600, top speed reached 210 km/h for the moment on the meter. I can confirm that at a standing start, the 650 Bandit takes the lead from a Hornet 600 up to 85 km/h, then gets overtaken. However, there's nothing ridiculous about it - acceleration isn't that different, top speed a little more so, as the hornet is 20 km/h faster... Rating : 5/5
French Fred13 Model 2005
Well, I bought it a bit by chance 15 days ago - originally for a V-strom-
I've had dr650/Gpz500/ZZR600/Freewind before
In the Red S version, it looks good, it pushes very well at low and medium rpm (running-in), even in 6th gear it starts better than a Z750 below 3000 rpm (not after qd mm), comfortable in duo, consumes nothing (4.6l for the moment, injection would bring NOTHING to this model), holds the floor in "normal" use (well adjusted and adjustable suspensions), practical (space under the saddle, num counter with gauge and 2 trip clock ... seat height adjustment). In short, NO MAJOR faults, more sparkling than a CBF600 and less expensive (insurance and especially tires less expensive than a Z750, too)
What more could you ask for? (other brands make other choices, and that's good for everyone)
In terms of "minor" faults (there are some you can't see on a technical data sheet), the bubble (often too low from the outset anyway), a little stiff if the road gets rough (due to a trail bike), a little heavy at a standstill, when the ignition is switched on the code inevitably lights up
Here's hoping that "cheap" and homogeneous bikes like this one will last!

Just one thing to say for the 650 Bandit. I'm having a blast with it. I've got it blue, N version, and I think it rocks. For the moment, I'm still in the running-in phase, but it's already boosting quite a bit. Just a beginner's opinion, it's my first bike, for what it's worth, but don't hesitate, it's easy to get to grips with and enough to ride as you like, and even scare yourself. Rating : 5/5
Well, for me, having just passed my driving test (45 years old, after all!), the 650 N seems like a good choice to start with. 78hp already seems like enough, and I doubt I'll reach the bottom of the speedometer (+200 km/h!!!). As for the look, given my age, it's the only one that's exactly what I want! I hate roadsters like the FZ6 naked or the ER6. Rating : 5/5

It's my first bike, I'm in 34hp for a month and I'm still breaking it in, but I'm already getting the hang of it :p
It's true that you can ride a 6 all the time, but you have to admit that the acceleration is extraordinary at 1000rpm ^_^
Can't wait for the end of the break-in and the 80hp :)

Happy owner of an S for 4 days and already nearly 400 km. Pick-up at very low revs, it's true that you can restart from idle in 6th gear, good suspension, good comfort, excellent braking, solo and even duo
One minor criticism, though: the bubble is too small, so a larger one is called for.

I G the S version with wheel arch and all. Although it needs to be run in, you have to admit that it's got a real kick to it... sure, it's not a sports bike, but I'm having a blast with it, and it's got a nice look too. In short, for a bike that costs me just under 7000 euros, it's a total blast. I hesitated for a long time between the bandit and the SV 650, and to see them side by side, the SV looks like a moped... lol In short, you'll understand that the new bandit gave me a little erection lol Rating : 5/5

Just to let you know that the S ABS version is priced at 6849 euros (ABS at 500 euros is not to be refused). With a discount of up to 300 euros available in certain dealerships (I was pleasantly surprised when I placed my order last Thursday)
Good for the frustrated. Please note that the Bandit is not a competitor to the Hornet, and certainly not to the SV (Would you be good at marketing, putting 2 competing bikes of the same brand on the same market). For the clever horsepower-hungry, if you look at the performance of a Hornet and the Bandit... well, sorry, but it's all the same, minus the flamboyance with the chicks... although..
So if you must compare, do it with machines in the same category. Well, you can criticize, but a bike that's been a best-seller for 10 years, with a look that wasn't very appealing at first, I say pack up your criticisms before you've actually tested the 2005 version

Ps; ABS only kicks in if you have poor braking control and lock the wheel. So, "grands Rossi" of the French highways, it should never start if you never block... or save your life once or twice.

hello everyone,
i took my license late (40 years) and swore by the big roadster, however I was seduced by this "little bandit" when I did not want. Here is a good and beautiful compromise and for a first bike (except 125) it is very good.

well, I've tried all 3 models, the first one I own runs like clockwork despite its 80,000kms, but the latest one works very well despite the fact that I find it less fun than the latest models where you had to squeeze to get the revs up but it's true that more torque can't be refused but for the lack of power there's always a way to work it out Rating : 5/5

I've had mine for 3 days now: first bike after training on a 2004 fazer naked (yes) and yet, the pleasure is there. For the moment, it's the house run-in, and I can feel the power coming on very soon. Superb and well-equipped (hard negotiation during the purchase!!), I can't yet say how it will age... In any case, in my opinion, it's a good bike Rating : 5/5

I think a lot of people talk about this bike without having tried it, and I think that's a shame. I've tried it, and I think it's important to understand that it's a bike that's evolving while respecting the spirit of the Bandit 600, which is a bike that's easy to ride and therefore accessible to everyone. I laugh when I see guys comparing this machine to the Z 750 and other Hornets etc., which are sporty roadsters. For my part, I found this bike enjoyable, but I'm waiting to see if the rumor of a possible Bandit 600 R equipped with the engine of the famous GSX-R 600 will come true. Rating : 5/5

I bought 1 Bandit 650 S a week ago
- good stability and comfort (not tried as a duo)
- good acceleration from 3000 rpm in 6°
- i find the bubble protection insufficient and would like to find a higher one
- good speedometer readability
Finally, with the bad weather, I didn't do many KMs

I'd like to swap it for my 2004 GS500F, all fairing; I'd take the N version and according to the specialist press tests, it picks up in 6 at 1000 rpm, i.e. a minimum speed of 20 km/h in 6, where the Kawasaki Z-750 and Yam FZ6 don't go below 35 km/h minimum in last gear..
For 6,000 roros, the performance is very decent, with no dips at low and mid-range revs, making it more versatile!

Very good move on Suzuki's part. Increasing displacement to get more torque, and therefore acceleration, is smarter than wanting more horsepower. Go and exploit the 78 hp with dignity, you raleurs, who only swear by 100+ hp mills! A 400m DA in 12.2s or 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6s, isn't that enough for you? I've never had my eye on the Bandit before, so I may have to reconsider my choice. And what's more, an accomplished, reliable bike for €6,000, my hat's off to you! It's less expensive than Honda's future anemic super-motard (37.5hp). Bravo Suz. Rating : 5/5

In absolute terms, the 650 bandit seems like a good bike; the modifications compared to the 600 are judicious, but too timid. Wouldn't it have been ideal to put the 650 sv's twin-cylinder in the 650 bandit's frame? Rating : 5/5

Without raising prices (€5,900 and €6,150 for the N and S respectively), Suzuki has managed to develop its best-seller in keeping with the Bandit concept: simplicity, efficiency (yes, it is!!), economy of use and a price as tight as a Chippendael's underpants. As a former owner of the 2003 Bandit 600, and having gone through a rather nice GSX 1200 in 2004, I'm thinking of turning back to the little bandit. The 600 was perfect, except for its rather weak torque. Suzuki has rectified the situation: thank you! The 650 is therefore promising, far from the sophisticated 600 Fazer and 750 Z, which are considerably more expensive (purchase, insurance and use) and more lucrative for law enforcement agencies. In short, a good motorcycle that's up to date and in tune with the times... Rating : 5/5

In terms of looks, I'm all for it, and I like the "real frame" feel that's no longer to be found on competing models (apart from a certain SV in another style). On the mechanical side, however, the extra 57 cm3 and lack of power increase are less inspiring: it may no longer get burned by the first TDI to come along under 8,000 rpm, but as soon as the road clears... The same in 750? Rating : 5/5

i'm hesitating between the new bandit and the hornet, but i still think suzuki is suzuki ... When I see the performance of the gsxr 1000, no more doubts. OK, we're talking about the bandit, but it's the same family, so let's remain confident Rating : 5/5

Here we go again, for another ten years. It's a pity that the modifications weren't more thorough, it's a bit like personal tuning, but it's still pretty and discreet, in short, everything to last. As for the engine, I'm glad it hasn't been sucked into the trend for more and more bourin, which will keep the insurance premium reasonable, but too bad for the fuel injection that would have reduced fuel consumption. well, personally, I really prefer the previous model!! I got on it a week ago and I was going to give it up in March 2005, so now I don't know what to do, look towards honda... or buy a bandit right away, and leave it in the garage for 6 long months. :( Rating : 5/5

i'm sorry, but I'm shocked at how little modernity there is on a bike that intends to stay at the top of the sales charts. It's pretty nice, but the engine and suspension need to be improved (injection, 20 more horsepower and harder suspension). Rating : 5/5
