presentation of the GSX-F 650 2011
We'd almost forgotten about it in the range. However, the GSX-F label, synonymous with sport-GT for the Hammamatsu-based manufacturer, still exists, and the proof is in the pudding: in 2008, a new 650 will defend this niche...
650, is that the displacement of the Bandit?!? Yes, this new GSX-F is powered by the modern 4-stroke liquid engine of the latest-generation GSF. But it doesn't stop there. Whereas the 600 and 750 GSX-Fs had their own chassis and dress, the 650 is in fact a... Bandit 650 with full fairing. But what a fairing! It doesn't get much more GSX-R than this. The fork head is a virtual copy-paste from the 2005 version of the 1000. Even the typography of the logo mimics that of the sportbike, with a big, bold F in red.
All the qualities of the 650 Bandit are there, with the added protection offered by the new cladding. We can't really speak of a new bike, nor of a replacement for the GSX-F, but this solution should enable Suzuki to offer a versatile and accessible tourer at a very competitive price. The old GSX-F, powered by an ancient and polluting 4-cylinder air/oil engine, with an aging design and bored by its rivalry with the mythical VFR, had no heart to fight for. "Logically, a 1250 GSX-F should certainly see the light of day within the next few quarters". That's what we said when we released this 650; and bingo, Suzuki is indeed bringing a GSX 1250 FA to market in 2010.

It's a comfortable, reliable little bike in its own right, apart from a few electrical worries, such as the neutral indicator that's out of order, which compromises the kickstand switch (it won't start unless it's folded down), and the temperamental injectors (jerks at low revs, same problem as on the GSR 600). Otherwise, if you want to get into sporty GT, while having a bike that's both rewarding and protective, go for it! Well, I sold mine after six months (and a mere 800km) because I quickly got bored of it (yes, I tire of my bikes quickly and easily, this being my eighth in five years), but it was a nice little bike, with a devastating look and a style all its own! Proven and relatively reliable mechanics, with basic care (oil changes, temperature control, battery in good to excellent working order). Rating : 4/5 Respond to Jerry
For your information, I've got an original engine and Leovince exhausts, just changed the handlebars for wristbands and other cosmetic items

two pencil coils failed, otherwise regular maintenance, oil change, spark plug filters.
Reliable and economical in terms of fuel consumption and insurance. Rating : 4/5 Respond to GSXF 650

even if I'm more interested in the old model, I wouldn't mind giving the new one a try ;) Rating : 5/5 Respond to Nova
The old GSX-F had its faults and wasn't to everyone's taste, but I liked its mini-Hayabusa look. This one does look a little too Bandit dressed up, and seems a little puny. Yet the weight remains more or less the same
On a positive note, the protection seems satisfactory, especially for the legs, which is not the strong point of its direct competitors, but it's a pity that it has lost its bracelet handlebars for a simple handlebar. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Momolamoto
