presentation of the GSX-F 650 2013

The GSX-F label, synonymous with sport-GT for the Hammamatsu-based manufacturer, still exists and is discreetly maintained within the Suzuki range. Its latest incarnation dates back to 2008: it's now a 650 that defends this niche...

650, but that's the displacement of the Bandit! Yes, this GSX-F is powered by the modern 4-stroke liquid engine of the latest-generation GSF. But it doesn't stop there. While the 600 and 750 GSX-F had their own chassis and dress, the 650 is really a... Bandit 650 with full fairing. But what a fairing! It doesn't get much more GSX-R than this. The fork head is a virtual copy-paste from the 2005 version of the 1000. Even the typography of the logo mimics that of the sportbike, with a big, bold F in red.

All the qualities of the 650 Bandit are there, with the added protection offered by the new cladding. We can't really speak of a new motorcycle, nor a replacement for the GSX-F, but this solution should enable Suzuki to offer a versatile and accessible tourer at a very competitive price. The old GSX-F, powered by an ancient and polluting 4-cylinder air/oil engine, with an aging design and fed up with its rivalry with the mythical VFR, had no heart left to fight for. "Logically, a 1250 GSX-F should certainly see the light of day within the next few quarters". That's what we said when we released this 650; and bingo, Suzuki did indeed put a GSX 1250 FA on the market in 2010.

French Jerry Model 2009
A cute little bike with a strong resemblance to the GSXR, this GSXF is an ideal model for beginners (as it's compatible with A2 licenses, just by unplugging a cable, which will cost - certificate included - around a hundred euros max). Models from 2013 onwards have to change their CDI gearbox, which will cost you almost €400 because it's a more expensive part! Anyway.

It's a comfortable, reliable little bike in its own right, apart from a few electrical worries, such as the neutral indicator that's out of order, which compromises the kickstand switch (it won't start unless it's folded down), and the temperamental injectors (jerks at low revs, same problem as on the GSR 600). Otherwise, if you want to get into sporty GT, while having a bike that's both rewarding and protective, go for it! Well, I sold mine after six months (and a mere 800km) because I quickly got bored of it (yes, I tire of my bikes quickly and easily, this being my eighth in five years), but it was a nice little bike, with a devastating look and a style all its own! Proven and relatively reliable mechanics, with basic care (oil changes, temperature control, battery in good to excellent working order).

Aaah okay I see it's not just on mine! Thanks for commenting, I now know it's a benign and common problem :) Rating : 4/5
Excellent bike, ideal for beginners, mine has about 50k km and nothing to complain about, no costs apart from wear parts. Pleasant chassis, decent fuel consumption and always a look that turns heads Rating : 5/5

Excellent bike, it's my first present for my 55th birthday... I'm having a blast with it and every ride is great... the only problem is its weight when manoeuvring, but as soon as you get going, hop on, no problem. Excellent for both acceleration and braking, you can drive really cool or step on the gas, it's really versatile and a pleasure to drive Rating : 5/5

I've got a GSX650F 2008, in 2 years I've covered more than 25,000km with it and nothing to say, it's supple and comfortable, but also a sporty performer on laps, after 10km/h you can hardly feel the 250kg of the bike
For your information, I've got an original engine and Leovince exhausts, just changed the handlebars for wristbands and other cosmetic items
(Max speed :241)

reliable, economical, comfortable and versatile, I love my bike :) Rating : 5/5
Petite GT ?
French Model 2013
A good bike, contrary to appearances, in ABS version. By adding a few items of equipment, I've turned it into a little GT: gel comfort seat, center stand, full Shad luggage, handlebar riser, heated grips, high bubble plus deflector, T30evo tires. All this for less than 9,000 euros, and I can't find a replacement for it unless I'm into big GTs. Rating : 4/5
French GSXF 650 Model 2010
Very good bike, I have 72,000 km, I ride every day with 60 km round trip to work, I've even been on a circuit!
two pencil coils failed, otherwise regular maintenance, oil change, spark plug filters.
Reliable and economical in terms of fuel consumption and insurance.

Hello, I have a little question about a used gsx f 650, I want to buy one and I have an A2 license, suzuki tell me that they can't restrict it to 34hp or 48hp, could you give me more information please? Rating : 4/5

You asked about the Bandit 650, which shares the same engine? If we give you the same answer, it's because we haven't designed a clamping kit for these bikes... Rating : 3/5

i've had one for touring since November, but unfortunately the current climate isn't really conducive to it, so it's only been running for 600 km and hasn't been broken in yet (max 6000 rpm). Despite this, on our last outing we had a ratatouille following a series of tight bends. Could it be faulty fuel injection or dirty petrol? Two KM later, everything was back to normal. The bike is very efficient, both solo and duo, with excellent handling and braking. As for the engine, patience, the first 6,000 rpm seem voluptuous and mellow. I'm waiting for the rest, compared with my old 750 GSXF, which only caused a stir from 5,000 rpm. Headlight calls! Rating : 5/5
French nikos Model 2008
i've just bought this bike, good protection for my 1.92metre, I ride a lot and I needed a bike that wasn't too expensive, comfortable and with enough torque to avoid playing with the gearbox. I found myself riding at 50 in six .350 km in two days and so far no major faults. Rating : 5/5
French fredlegion Model 2008
i find this new gsxf very beautiful. in fact i was hesitating between it and the ER6f but apparently the latter has quite a lot of vibrations in the fairing so my choice turned to the gsxf which is also less expensive

Not ugly in black, it limits the resemblance with the old GEX, the disigner suzuki are paid to do what???steal the fairing of the gsx-r to mount it on a bandit, a good handyman could have done in his garage, lamentable Rating : 5/5
French Nova Model 2008
new dress...too common for my taste...too much resemblance with a Gex...too bad because its organic physique made all its charm for my taste...it remains nevertheless a motorcycle that I wish to buy me because as Momolamoto says the always rolls need this type of motorcycle
even if I'm more interested in the old model, I wouldn't mind giving the new one a try ;)

At last, Suzuki decides to renew its sport-GT. Old-timers like me were getting impatient! Well, I have to admit I'm of two minds about it: it's got a good face, even if it lacks a bit of personality, but it's lost a bit of its stature
The old GSX-F had its faults and wasn't to everyone's taste, but I liked its mini-Hayabusa look. This one does look a little too Bandit dressed up, and seems a little puny. Yet the weight remains more or less the same
On a positive note, the protection seems satisfactory, especially for the legs, which is not the strong point of its direct competitors, but it's a pity that it has lost its bracelet handlebars for a simple handlebar.
