presentation of the 750 GSX-R SE 2015
little by little, the GSX-R range is being adorned with special versions, soberly named SE. Whether the 1000 GSX-R is frankly tuned, or theHayabusa 50th Anniversary is more sober and elegant, the Special Editions are a real eye-catcher, reviving the appeal of a category in steady decline. Here, the 750 GSX-R is presented in a classy red and black dress, strongly inspired by the aforementioned GSX 1300 R Hayabusa SE.
is this a stock GSX-R with two coats of paint daubed on it? No, the machine comes straight from the Hamamatsu factory. It will be distributed in most of the manufacturer's markets. Like the majority of special series, this one is based in part on its limited distribution: only 25 units for France. Requiring a larger budget than a standard 7? Gex, the SE comes in two-tone trim, with red piping on the rims, red lettering on the Brembo monobloc brake calipers, and a few anodized parts: red for the fork tube caps, "copper gold" for the central steering nut, chain tensioner and fork forks. A red saddle completes the scene.
until the starter motor fires the 148 hp 4-cylinder engine. Even if the 750 GSX-R is only of interest to a handful of enthusiasts and/or nostalgics today, it boasts formidable potential and a rare homogeneity. An efficient sportbike without being unmanageable, its power assistants are limited to an electronic steering damper, the S-DMS for choosing two fuel injection maps and a limited slip clutch. For the rest, it's up to the driver to do the work, with a chassis that has nothing left to prove, and knows how to defend itself in all circumstances. This Special Edition is a bit of a wake-up call for a category that suffers from two problems: sports cars are no longer fashionable, and repression has rarely been so lively...
