presentation of the SV 650 Scrambler 2017
Released in 2016, the 'Scrambler' edition of the Suzuki est SV continues its presence in 2017. Scrapped at the 2015 Paris Motorcycle Show, the Scrambler version of the Suzuki SV 650 got the green light to hit our roads. The manufacturer had announced that the roadster wouldn't be alone for long, and would be entitled to variations. And a Scrambler is all the rage. Does this one fully embrace the concept, with trails and dirt clods as its companions?
well, not exactly... Very little, in fact. It's more of a customization exercise than an adaptation. Scrambler. With such a word in your mouth, chewed with a hint of English flavor, you'd expect a raised pot, spoked rims, suspension work and a few weeds plucked here and there. Suzuki doesn't care.
To create this limited series of 120, a whole set of accessories is fitted to a matte-black SV 650. Style, style, style: that's what it's all about. As a result, the roadster arouses more curiosity than the standard model. A dozen elements contribute to this:
- a brown Bagster saddle with topstitching
- dunlop Mutant tires
- lSL large-diameter matte-black bridge and handlebar assembly
- aluminum windscreen
- headlight cover
- aluminum radiator scoops
- minimalist aluminum front fender
- lED turn indicators
- black aluminum handlebar ends
- aluminum chain guard
- black enduro footpegs
- openwork gearbox output sprocket housing
now that's something to show off. On a day-to-day basis, this mock-scrambler will let its owner enjoy the twin's joviality, ease of riding and good humor. The expressive work is nowhere near as advanced as on an XSR 700, but we salute the fact that Suzuki is finally coming out of its torpor in what is currently a very lively segment. For those looking for a more 'sport-urban' version, the Café-Racer version is available for the same price.
