presentation of the 1050 V-Strom Machi 2020
After the Sakigate edition, Suzuki Italy is back with a new, accessorized 1050 V-Strom. This time, it's not the XT we're dealing with, but the standard version, the idea being to give the trail bike an extra edge for everyday urban use, or even for impromptu jaunts.
If I've understood this kanji correctly, Machi is synonymous with a busy, lively, interesting neighborhood, and 'Suzuk' here implies that the V-Strom would be popular downtown with its looks and equipment. The 'Master of Adventure' (you can't make that up!) gains something for every day.
The Machi kit starts with large 1050 stickers on the sides. Still on the look side, there's a plastic engine cover and rim piping. Where it gets more interesting, and above all more practical, is with the center stand and the beefy top-case. With a 55-liter capacity, it's easy to fit two helmets or all your work gear inside. The handlebars are fitted with a pair of handguards.
It' s ready to go. Let's not forget that this trail bike moves by street and road with a powerful, unboosted punch of 107 hp delivered by its 1037 cm3 twin. Torque is just over 10 mkg. Aluminum perimeter frame, 43 mm inverted fork, 4-piston radial calipers, 160 mm suspension travel and a reasonable dose of electronics keep the price down. The 1050 V-Stchtroumpf features ABS, a 6-axis inertial unit, 3 traction control modes, 3 engine maps, Easy Start and Low RPM Assist, an all-LCD instrument panel and a 12V socket.
With the Machi edition, this 1050 V-Strom attempts a real seduction operation, largely driven by its price. It's quite simple: it comes with 1200 bales of gear, and yet it's less expensive than the basic V-Strom sold in France.
