presentation of the 1050 Speed Triple 15eme Anniversaire 2009
15 years... An eternity for a bike, an adventure for an Englishwoman, a miracle for a gang leader. The Speed Triple is all of these things. Along with the Ducati Monster and MV-Agusta Brutale, it's certainly the best-known roadster on the planet. But more than that, it certainly embodies (even invented) the street-fighter spirit. A blend of power, black jackets and bad-assery enthroned by the T 509 version and its famous dual optics. Turned bad-boy in 1997, the Speed became THE rogue bike, the one that disturbs with its evil look, its big 3-cylinder character, its sporty chassis, its wooden suspates and its punk colors. In short, an indispensable machine in the motorcycling landscape.
today, after 15 years and 35,000 units, it's a far cry from the stripped-down version of Manchzeck's 900 Daytona (Joe Bar Team). The 2009 Triple would make any dandy choke: inverted fork with 4-piston radial calipers, 1050 cm3 high-wattage engine, sporty frame, superb single-arm, aggressive truncated rear and belligerent double exhaust. You can't get your hands on this Englishwoman without her permission, unless you want to slap her.
triumph is taking advantage of 2009 to release a special "15th anniversary" series of what the brand considers to be the most popular model of the "Hinckley" era. A machine so important that John Bloor, Triumph's owner (and the man who relaunched the brand in the '90s), affixed his signature to the tank of this limited edition. Covered in Phantom Black, the Speed lets out a few crumbs of fury with red decals on the tank and windscreen. The bright color also graces the rims and Brembo branding on the calipers.
announced for March 2009 at a price of 12,290 euros, the Speed Triple 15th Anniversary offers a few goodies for its tamer: the aforementioned windscreen, a gel seat, an engine cover, and a superb watch in the bike's colors and crest (a model only offered with the bike and unavailable for sale).

A few electrical and mechanical glitches over the years, but nothing too serious. Still in the 100 hp version, it's still a lot of fun to ride.
I've taken it out for a few track sessions.
For a bit more comfort—and because the original one had given up the ghost—I installed a Shock Factory shock absorber that does the job well.
It's been burning a little oil for a while now, but nothing dramatic. I hope to be able to ride it for a long time yet. Great bike. Rating : 5/5 Respond to rc51
Without the watch, this is no longer a collector's item and its price is no longer the same, so buyer beware Rating : 5/5 Respond to tintin
It's a lively machine, a bewitching noise (especially when decelerating...), an exceptional chassis, brakes.....and Triumph's service is equal to the machine's qualities! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Max44
