Touring

Triumph is elegantly present in the GT category with its Trophy 1200. This elegant machine is also available in a 3-cylinder, 900 cm3 version. Unfortunately, its career has been overshadowed by the likes of Japan and Germany. Wrongly so, because this tourer deserves to be known and recognized. Tackling the Pan-European and the R 1150 RT is no easy task. The Trophy stands out with its pleasing styling, rounded forms and British class.

The engine is a 4-cylinder, the same as the previous generation, powerful and available. There was no reason to change this mill, so remarkable is it. The only thing that could have been done would have been to attenuate certain engine noises. The machine is generous with its mechanics, and equally so with its occupants. The fairing provides excellent protection, comfort is high-level (with a well-balanced seat and suspension), and equipment is plentiful. Admittedly, the cardan shaft is missing, but side cases are standard. Although the center of gravity is relatively high (and still...), driving the Trophy is a pleasure. This tourer is alert and efficient, even allowing you to drive it at full throttle. The 1200 cm3 always keeps its head up, at the cost of a certain appetite. Doubtless due to a lack of image, the Trophy is too rare on our roads. And yet, it deserves its rightful place as one of the best in its class.

French Chico Model 1998
Very nice machine I just made
Efficient purchase
Especially with two comfortable I can not say more for now, provided it lasts
Good evening to you.
Rating : 4/5
super bike, a bit heavy for me, fuel consumption 5.5L when riding quietly, when I sold it it had 100000km
original clutch, starter, timing chain
Rating : 5/5
French Model 1997
bought a 1997 1200, excellent road holding but big problem, suddenly no ignition, general shutdown, what is this problem, it has only 87000 kms, thank you for informing me about this problem, you can leave me a comment
on mail to massagehome@hotmail.fr thank you for the information
Rating : 5/5
French philippeso Model 2001
It's a good tourer, powerful when you need it. When I was young, I had a Yamaha 1.1 with a cardan shaft, and the difference is enormous: like me, you need a friend to harden the front suspension and adjust the 4 carburetors... In fact, this Englishwoman will take you a long way, and with two people it's the best. Rating : 4/5
French Yves Model 1999
Very good bike
One drawback: it's hard to start it from cold. If a biker can give me a trick to improve starting.
Otherwise powerful engine. Pleasant to ride. Comfortable even for the passenger. Reasonable fuel consumption if speed limits are respected.
Rating : 4/5
French Model 1997
Nearly 300 kilos. ....That's starting to sound like a lot, but it's an engaging bike with a very good engine, and what's more, it's pretty and well finished Rating : 4/5
French arnodom Model 1998
the data sheet mentions that the 1998 1200 Trophy has a 6-speed gearbox can you tell me if there is a part to display the gear engaged thank you Rating : 5/5

French sebou137 Model 1998

very nice aesthetics riding position for a big guy like me, as well as for my wife and kids as passengers.
Rating : 4/5
French vinc Model 1996
new to motorcycling, i bought a 1996 triumph trophy 1200 cm² with 50000 klm on the odometer.
i've been riding it at weekends for 1 year now, and I find it a pleasure to ride, even with its 280 kilo weight. The only drawback is that the weight is a handicap for handling it at a standstill, but the aim is to ride it
Rating : 4/5
i have a trophy 1200 year 1998 i have changed the spark plugs but the motorcycle turns on three cylinders could you tell me his problem thank you very much! Rating : 4/5
i just bought one 10 years after selling the first one! it's beautiful, comfortable and very dynamic for a gt and not expensive these days but....what does it drink!!!! Rating : 5/5
Great bike, after 22 years of riding, apart from the 1100gsxf, I haven't found a more comfortable bike with a nice spade for such a weight. On the downside: a little pressure on the wrists for those over 1.80m and a tendency to weave (nothing nasty) at prohibited speeds. Rating : 5/5
