presentation of the 1700 Thunderbird Storm 2015

when Triumph first entered the world of custom motorcycles, the brand had only two types of machine in its range: the gentle Speedmaster and America on the one hand, and the pachydermic and respectful Rocket III on the other. Then came the Thunderbird in a 1600 version and a limited 1700 series. An elegant cruiser powered by a big twin. This opened up new horizons for England, especially on the American side.

this Thunderbird woke up one morning in a bad mood. The coffee was rotten, the weather was disgusting, the Speed and Street Triple cousins were out fucking around in the village, and to top it all off, the PQ had run out...... That was all it took for the machine to go berserk and turn to the dark side. This morning, the Thunderbird Storm was born. Its dark side will escape no one, pitting it against Harley-Davidson's dark machines bearing the "Dark" banner. What's more, with its double Speed Triple optics and drag-bar handlebars, it looks downright nasty. You don't kiss it like that.

of the two mills, the Storm chose the bigger one to go out on. The 1700 cm3 parallel twin sends out 98 hp with gusto and a hefty 16 mkg of torque. With its 47 mm fork, large 200 mm rear tire, 300 kg dry weight and extensive catalog of accessories under its arm, this dark cruiser is not afraid of confrontation and is only too happy to correct the indelicate.
For the darkest of intrepid riders, there's also an even darker, deeper version: the Nightstorm.

acquired in december 2012, it's nothing but pleasure! a very good driving position, feet not too far forward, firm but comfortable, and welcoming. i'm short (1m71) but i've got my feet on the ground, reassuring. Above all, what a face, better than the one in the photo, I find, enhancing, interesting and attractive. the purring of the bi sounds good, especially when opening the throttle. nice noise even in the original. the weight is discreet. After that, it's a real catapult! extra torque. I'd tried a victory, but my heart remained with Triumph. For me, it's nothing but happiness and sensations I can't get enough of. Two "minor" faults? It's easy to touch if you overdo it in a curve (less so than the competition), and personally, I don't like that big radiator. But I'm in love! Rating : 5/5
