presentation of the Tiger 800 XRt 2019

Do you really want to enjoy the road in an 800 Tiger? The XRt version will give you the most. Top of the range, so you can leave the XR at the disco door, and the XRX to be flirted with on the track - this even fuller version plays with the turntables. A wink and it sets the track alight. A Triumph-style trail bike is 1,000 miles away from a placid '90s single snooping around. This is watts, techno and fashion. One push of the starter and it's in the box.

Do you sense a hint of Street Triple RS presentation? Not at all, but the Tiger knows how to have fun too, albeit on a different scale. The 3-cylinder engine is playful, although not as powerful, but its 95 horsepower know how to take the bike along with gusto. The engine has been reworked for greater liveliness, and the first gear ratio has been shortened.
The riding modes that coach it are the most numerous here. 5 road judges, named Road - Rain - Off-road - Sport - and as a bonus a mode programmable by the rider. In fact, it's just one more than the XRX. But that plus this plus that quickly adds up to quite a difference. Let's take a closer look.
We were talking about the XRX. Equipped with a center stand, 5-way adjustable windscreen, Brembo brakes, cruise control, heated grips, ABS and traction controlconnectable, LED daytime running lights and indicators, high-tech cockpit, 12 V and USB sockets, 5-position joystick control and hand guards. With the additional 't' on the side panel, the equipment leans towards premium.
Here we go: heated saddles for rider and passenger, aluminum radiator guards, LED fog lights, and a few upgraded features. Commodos are backlit, the Showa inverted fork is fully adjustable, and the paintwork is a tad more refined. The XRX takes the pressure off with two kilos less.

This is the Triumph for a good ride in comfort. One of the MKIII's strong points is its daytime LED whiskers, which enhance its visual identity. The instrument panel has been completely revised and modernized, with a TFT screen taken from the latest 765 Street Triple. A beautiful color screen with 6 display styles plus 3 derivatives.
With the Tiger 800 XRt, you'll be hard-pressed to find a trail bike with more than this. A premium choice at a premium price.

excellente machine !

This is my second Tiger 800 and I'm very satisfied with it, despite a few minor faults..
The heat generated by the engine? since the engines are liquid-cooled, I've never ridden a bike that didn't give off annoying heat..
For me, its biggest shortcomings are: 1- the seat (even "comfort") becomes unbearable after 1 hour! you need to go and see a motorcycle saddler! 2- the center of gravity is too high, which doesn't help when maneuvering at a standstill. 3- the pot (original) is too noisy! 4- damn chain!!! At almost $16,000 without options, Triumph could have stuck us with a cardan shaft! Apart from that, a hell of a mill!!! super pleasant in cool mode, a fighter plane in arsouille mode! Tip for those who buy second-hand: fit a 17 PSB to the next chain kit => the engine doesn't even notice it, but the funfair mode is much nicer in the passes, and you climb to around 350 km of range before reserve ignition...

after crossing the Pyrenees from east to west, touring corsica, and a 5,000 km trip in italy with this tiger, here are my impressions: well finished bike, with nice options on long trips like the regulator, heated grips and seat. the bubble protects well. it holds the ground well and the engine propels the machine well, even if a 3-cylinder isn't what i prefer. the seat is comfortable. on trips of 700 km or more, i've never had a sore neck! For me, the main shortcomings are handling: it doesn't steer! and the weight is relatively high, which doesn't make maneuvering any easier. The center stand is useless for me, as I can't lift it (small frame). On a day-to-day basis, for short trips, I'd rather ride a mt07, which is much easier. next year, if covid authorizes it, we'll go to the north cape! Bonne route a vous! Rating : 4/5

The comments of the journalists... I have an XRT from April 2018 and we did some long rides, up to 700 km in one go. So yes, it's a great bike for everyday use, super finish etc., but the heated seat is wood after 50 km, and the engine is relatively noisy and tiring on long trips, even with a great helmet. If I had to take back a motorcycle for long trips, it would certainly be the 1250 gs or rt... Rating : 3/5

Already 1500 km with the new XRT. My impressions:
Highlights:
finish, high bubble pilot protection, engine acceleration, smoothness, pleasant gearbox, perfect regulator, handling and roadholding.
Weak points :
the driver's seat is catastrophic; you'll have to take the comfort seat, which is already better,
engine noise above 100km/h: if you're on a long road, you'll need earplugs (otherwise, you'll get a nice rumble on acceleration)
Rating : 4/5
