Cruiser

as an introduction to the Victory range, this good-natured custom is identified by a name as striking as American vice: Vegas. A call to solitary pleasure, as dictated by its single-seat saddle. But the manufacturer is also thinking of making its cruiser range more accessible. Thus, in its 8-ball version, this machine comes down to a price that puts it within reach of many people. Cheaper than a Kawasaki VN 1700 or a Harley Street Bob! There's no miracle involved in offering this 'delicacy', but a tried and tested recipe: savings and less equipment.

it's no coincidence that the Vegas 8 ball is only available in one color. A black color that has its origins in the color of the n°8 billiard ball. And it stretches from end to end on this long bike, sending the chrome to sleep in the memory rack. Except for the essentials. A touch on the dashboard, a few strokes on the magnificent rims, and some delicate grinding on the engine fins. For a first-price Victory, it's a far cry from the bottom of the range.

don't try to compare it to a Milwaukee machine, because Victory's world is quite different. Its 1,731 cm3 heartbeat stirs the torque, but with a modernism that would make a Twin Cam fan wince. Powerful, finely vibrating and highly available, the Freedom engine is far more modern than American tradition would have you believe.
The Vegas chassis is no slouch either, offering healthy roadholding and comfort at the top end of its class. Cruiser in style, with its long, uncluttered custom, represents a real alternative to the segment's tenor. And rest assured, the vegas 8 ball has retained all those little shortcomings (a muscular gearbox, metal everywhere that knocks out the scales, feet looking for the front wheel) that make riding more lively when the pistons growl.

Bought Vegas 8 Ball on 09/2019 version 2013
Tank 17 liters, including 2 reserve, despite driving a little rough, I do between 280 and 310 km with full tank
I didn't give it 5*, because of the gearbox clutches at low revs and a selector that's a bit sticky
Other than that, it's all fun... starting at full throttle, the beast roars but doesn't buck, the original 180 mm Dunlop tire (I didn't go any wider) slips a bit but stays in line and makes the beast bounce
I've got 25,000 km on the odometer, and apart from fork spi seals and normal maintenance (brake pads, filter and oil...) there's nothing to say so far. The only drawback is that I live in Tours and there's no Indian dealer within 100 km of my home.

Nothing to add to what's been said, I've been happy for the last 10 years, at most a spinnaker seal and a clutch cable (grease it often;)). 54 years on the odometer, a bunch of bikes, sports bikes then H-D... From Milwaukee I just kept a rigid, for style.... Bonne route à tous. Rating : 5/5
C\'est du pur bonheur. To try it is to adopt it. Riding it is a real delight, despite its weight, which is totally forgettable.
I ride a Bandit 1200 (for the moment LOL) and the weight difference isn't noticeable at all.
Go and try it, you'll be bluffed, the Vegas as well as the other models.

Make no mistake.
The Vegas is nothing like a cheap custom.
Just one example: all the hoses are "aviation" hoses, and as standard please.
Unlike HD, where you have to pay twice for your bike, with the price of accessories and a suspension that's not made of wood... I understand....

In short, it's not comparable in its price range with any other custom under 20 Kâ'¬.
What's more, you've got a fuel tank that can cruise for 250 kilometers.
And it's superbly integrated in terms of design...

I've owned the Vegas 8 ball 2012 model since May 2012 and I have to say I'm not disappointed with my purchase. I was looking for a model with a minimum of chrome, and I'd had my eye on this one since 2009, but I didn't like seeing chrome exhaust pipes. When I saw it this year with black mufflers, I decided to make an appointment for a test drive at my local dealer. I was so pleased with the 30-minute test that I bought the bike within hours.

The engine doesn't purr like a Harley, but it delivers plenty of power when you want to overtake a vehicle. It's also less wide than a Harley twin cam, so you don't feel like you're in a saddle with your legs spread.

Braking is effective and acceleration can be lightning-fast, but you'll need to hold the handlebars firmly, as there's plenty of torque. The engine revs to around 3000 rpm at 130 km/hrs in 5th gear, and you still have extra speed and power up to 3500 to 4000 rpm, so the top speed of 180 km/hrs is very valid.

You don't buy a bike like this for speed, because there are sports bikes for that. I have to say that when you're overtaking and a little flick of the right wrist gets you up to 140 km/hr in a matter of seconds, you've got a smile on your face.

This is a cruiser's bike, so not a road bike, but for those who like that kind of riding, you won't go wrong. The large, narrow front wheel and not-too-wide rear wheel allow us to take corners with a certain ease and lay the bike down a little more, which is very pleasant and makes riding fun. You don't feel the weight of the bike at any point.
It's also surprisingly fuel-efficient, averaging 4.8L/100KM over 8000 km, which is quite surprising for such a large-displacement bike.

Of course, it does have a few shortcomings, such as a primitive finish. The rear shock absorber is visible under the seat, as are the wires, but for the price, with the Freedom 106 engine (1731cc) and 6 gears, you get what you pay for. There's also the heat emanating from the black exhaust pipes, which heats up our right leg on a hot day.

Finally, it's a bike you don't often see on the road. People tend to look at my bike with attention and admiration. It used to be that owning a Harley revealed you as an \'\'Out sider\' now there are so many baby boomers who own them that this brand has become commonplace. Today, it's me with my Victory Vegas 8 ball who's an \'Out sider\'\' and I fully embrace it...
