Motorcycle description sheet YamahaXSR 125 2024 The ages of spring
with its XSR models, Yamaha introduced two new ideas to its range. First, the "Faster Sons" family, its nostalgic-authentic label for neo-retro models. Secondly, a glimpse of a gateway to preparation, with the extravagant Yard Built as an example.
unlike Kawasaki and its Z 900 RS, Triumph and its Bonneville, or Suzuki with its Katana, Yam didn't want a "revival", letting the past have only an infusion of influence. At Iwata, we preferred inspiration to reinterpretation. The result was the XSR 700, for mid-range enthusiasts, and the XSR 900, for more experienced riders.
But what did we have in the way of small-displacement "Faster Son"? Nothing, until the arrival of the XSR 125.
this mini-XSR is making its appearance. With its round LED headlights, streamlined fuel tank, under-seat plates and perforated aluminum inserts, the transfer of attributes from the 900 is blatantly flattering. The smaller bike even has the questionable housing on the sides of the frame. It's a little more vintage with a "Tuck & Roll" saddle, acidulous or dark colors, and tires with large cobblestones, giving it a "city trail and urban beach" feel. Quite the opposite of an MT-125, which is much more louboutin and sharp. It's hard to see the connection - yet the XSR is essentially based on the MT, just like the big ones.
to create the XSR, Yamaha applied a special skin to the youngest of the Mastersof Torque. The bike features the same steel perimeter frame, chassis, swingarm, wheels and engine.
With a few minor differences that are less obvious than the design. An inverted fork for each model, but the XSR fork is thinner (37 mm instead of 41 mm). The handlebars are higher for a more relaxed riding position, the front tire is wider (+10 mm), the front brake disc is smaller (267 mm instead of 292 mm) and the bike is 2 kilos lighter. So, what engine do we have to push these 140 kilos?
the big XSR has 3 cylinders; the mid-size has two; the 125 has a single-cylinder. A certain mechanical hierarchy has naturally emerged, in concert with the level of cubage and performance. The engine is not as old as the XSs echoed by the Faster Sons, coming as it does directly from the MT-125and YZF-R 125. It features 4 valves, fuel injection and liquid cooling, delivers 15 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, and stands out from the competition with its VVA variable valve timing. This optimizes valve position according to rpm to boost torque. Given its displacement, the engine produces just over 1 mkg. But it's better distributed with VVA.
the Yamaha XSR 125 also features aluminum brackets for the front fender, a chrome nameplate in the headlight and a round speedometer with digital display. Minimalist in appearance, but covering the essentials. RPM, speed, gear engaged, fuel level and average fuel consumption are constantly in view.
Here's a serious competitor for the Honda CB 125 R. All the more so as Yam's 1/8th-litre range covers 3 main areas of interest: sporty, vindictive urban and vintage-style. This nod to Yamaha's history looks directly to the city and its classic pop-culture.

I got it back yesterday, after 100 km
Accustomed to my unbridled DTR, I was a little worried about performance, but in the end I wasn't. The engine is very elastic and willing
The engine is very elastic and willing, with torque at all revs
The controls are smooth and it's a pleasure to ride it through one corner after another
The build quality is beyond reproach, and the riding position is very pleasant despite my 1.87m height, and with my wife behind me (1.70m) we're both very comfortable.
The only complaints are that the rear shock absorber is very (too) firm, and the speedometer lighting is weak, even at maximum
Ideal bike for beginners or experienced riders like me who don't want to take their driving test
and what a face ;) Rating : 5/5 Respond to Gil
In 2021, how can anyone come up with such colors when you see Asian models that are too classy and what's being done elsewhere
Huge disappointment: this is my first bike and the gray leather seat was a dream ... 0 for this choice! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Virg
I would have loved to find a gray one with a brown seat... then once in the dealership with the yellow one in front of me: it's just as beautiful. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Pek
