presentation of the TDM 900 2011

the sporty-trail-roader had undergone a thorough refresh. The double-beam frame, which was steel on the 850, is now made of aluminum, the forks have been enlarged from 41 to 43 mm, and the tires are more assertive: from 110 to 120 mm at the front and from 150 to 160 mm at the rear. Like many of the manufacturer's machines, the TDM adopts a braking system closely derived from the R1. The gearbox is finally upgraded to 6 speeds, with smoother operation, and the aesthetics gain in elegance. Subtle but definite. The biggest change comes from the engine block. It's still a parallel twin, but with fuel injection and a 48 cm3 increase in displacement. Torque is up by more than 1 mkg and power by 9 bhp. The mill has more boot without changing its character. Acceleration is better, but we would have appreciated more enthusiasm when revving up. Comfort is slightly down, but remains at a good level. It has to be said that the bike has become more efficient and rigorous. Concessions have to be made. The TDM spirit remains, versatility being its greatest asset. More peachy and more efficient; what more could you want?

we want ABS! Well, if you insist. Yamaha has been offering it on its TDM since 2005. The design is similar to that of the FJR 1300. Expect to pay a few hundred euros and 3 kg more for top safety braking.
A GT version is also available for an extra 1,000 euros, including case, case holder, bubble, handguards and deflectors.

Fuel system issues, a motorcycle that's running rough, etc.!
On this model, which uses fuel injection.
Have it serviced properly—not just a quick fix—and make sure the system is thoroughly cleaned, regardless of the fuel system type. If the problem persists, check that nothing is blocking the airflow, as the sensors are located under the seat. Take it from a technician—safe travels!

2004 900 TDM purchased second-hand in 2014, 74,000 km, nothing but joy, rock-solid reliability, custom seat, fuel consumption 5/5.5/l100. No rust, quality construction by Yamaha.A bit windy with the windshield a little low, but nothing but pleasure with this machine. Currently, if I had to change, I wouldn't know what to choose for riding mainly with a passenger on mountain roads. Rating : 5/5
French Papytwils Model 2014
This machine is the best compromise for having fun with a big trail position and enough power to roll solo and even in a duo! I've had the 3vD, the 4tx and the 900 of course! I always have a TDM with me, as well as a good all-round bike. I love this machine, it's very reliable and will take you a long, long way if you take good care of it! Rating : 5/5
French BlueStone Model 2003
This bike is simply brilliant! And so strong that they unfortunately didn't make enough stock replacement parts... It's versatile, and even on the Mettet circuit, it enabled me to finish much faster than several speed bikes. A real workhorse and a real pleasure. Rating : 4/5
Very good bike, unfortunately the duo with adaptable suitcases and a bag on the carrier makes the passenger's access equivalent to a balancing act, it's tiring in the long run that's why we didn't keep it. Yet Yamaha made a very good bike, wonder why they didn't make a more modern model with the 1200 of the super T? I think it would have been a hit. Rating : 4/5

it's not a machine that's been used by the police and gendarmerie for nothing. i took over a gendarmerie bike 2 years ago and it's really made for solo riding, after 2 you're riding an FJR. Rating : 5/5

A good tourer that breaks away from today's roadster bikes, but is comfortable and lively in corners.

SUPERBIKE, You need an exhaust system, a seat, I'm a big follower with a very high bubble, I bought it for a pittance 14 years ago, simple maintenance, it has 80000kms today without any problems, it's all fun, Important, you need to plug a small hose in the airbox so that you no longer have a hole at low revs and everything changes. Bonne route à tous. DD 70 YO Rating : 5/5
French Yam 11 Model 2002
Excellent bike, it's the first vintage of 2001, and yellow at that, so it's rare because it was produced only that year. Excellent torque, top-notch braking (normal for a R1), perfect comfort, as it's fitted with a gel comfort saddle. 75,000 km, and no worries, the engine purrs, it's an engine capable of 200,000 km without a problem. The only fault: the gearbox is noisy when shifting gears, which is normal for a Yam (just like BM, for example). Everything else is faultless, and the handling on bad roads is much better than that of a sports bike
My dream is to be able to drive it on the roads of Corsica...

Hi everyone! My TDM900 2002 has an oil leak, after 75000km of happiness without any worry. It's leaking towards the rear of the bottom of the cylinders, but apparently not at the cylinder gasket. Hard to see where exactly it's coming from: gearbox cover...? Any ideas?
I'd like to fix it before replacing it. Thanks a lot!

I drove English, US and German cars, but the Japs were of no interest to me, and in 2006, to avoid dying a fool, I bought a
900 TDM. Since then, my 2 Harleys have stayed in the parking lot, my 3 T140s in the garage and I've been riding TDMs.
Imagine if Norton had offered this bike instead of their misery bag at the stupid price? Anyway, bon route.

9 years of happiness and 80000km on my Tdm900 bought in2006 (mod.2002).
For 35 years, the pleasure of riding has been vital to my equilibrium, and with a few modifications this bike is a pure joy every day of the year and on all roads/cities: very high bubble, hand guard, engine guard and above all: 1 tooth on the rear sprocket. => it's lively/responsive, - de \"broutage\" below 3000très.
In short, it's a pleasure to ride, and as versatile as ever...

I took and passed my driving test on 02.12.2014, at the age of 54, and decided to go for a new TDM 900 ABS, as the machine is high enough for me and I didn't want to break the bank. I found a dealer who still had stock and I got on my new steed (I used to ride a scooter 500 MP3).
It was super-easy to get to grips with, and I'm now at 6,000 kilometers of riding pleasure. Trip from Paris to Lozère (620kms) and what a pleasure!
I had a blast on the curves of the Gorges du Tarn and on the roads of Aubrac. It's really a very good machine, admittedly no longer up to date but, to my taste, with no real faults. Given my age, I'm no longer an "arsouilleur", but when you open it up a bit, it responds quite well all the same. I think I'll be staying with it for a long time.

I need to replace my deflector and windscreen on my Yamaha TDM 900 (like the Gt). I have contacted several Italian Yamaha dealers but none is able to answer my request.ÀÂ

You can you indicate your dealer here in Italy where they can buy and / or order?
If not, can I buy directly from you? If so, when would the windscreen, the two deflectors and the transport costs cost?

I look forward to your reply, Sincerely,ÀÂ

Just over 2 years ago, I snapped up a used 2004 TDM 900 that I bought at 40,000 km.
Since then I've ridden it 12,000 times, and it's a great bike for short rides or a day's ride of 350 km for 2 people.

I'd tried the old 850 model since my brother had one, and found it a very pleasant bike to ride, with a torquey, super-comfortable engine and a sound, but heavy chassis when stationary. The 900 has had to improve its performance still further, in particular to reduce fuel consumption and maintenance, which should make it an extremely versatile bike with a minimum of equipment, which is why the TDM was defined in the first place. The gamble has always paid off, except for the aesthetics, which I don't like as much as the very first inspired pencil sketch, as is often the case when creating a new concept. Even now, it doesn't really have any rivals apart from a few trail bikes and crossovers, the latest fashionable term to describe a crossrunner (perhaps the bike the concept is closest to?), or a versys1000 for example. hi everyone. I'm a MIB motorcyclist and I ride a BMW RT1150 and a TDM900, two completely different bikes, but the TDM 900 is the best for wandering around, making U-turns and handling. I'm even thinking of selling my good old 1200 bandit to buy a TDM900, which I think is a very versatile bike for my taste. Rating : 5/5

After a TDM 900 model 2006, this summer I switched to the TDM 900 GT ABS. I did the Tour de Corse as a duo with my partner and on the whole, I'm happy with the bike, apart from the center stand which rubs at the slightest bump or as soon as you lean a bit too much, and the engine heats up quite easily in traffic

43 years old. 14 years of motocross, ending up on a DTR 125... so my A license was a must. I decided on the TDM 900 even before I had my license. Why? because of the machine's looks, its atypical twin-cylinder engine, and my height (1M85). I've only had my license for 2 weeks, and I'm a bit nervous as a beginner on a machine of this size and weight. Not disappointed at all! It's a delight, with 86 HP enough for road and highway riding. This bike doesn't move at all, with a high bubble, impeccable braking and very satisfying torque. It doesn't seem to like low revs; below 3,000 rpm, the engine kicks in, but not as lively as a 4-cylinder, which is normal in itself... you can't have everything. Excellent driving position, dridri consumption for a 900cc.
One small drawback: the top case destabilizes a little above 140 km/h (but it's forbidden)

I made a choice that I don't regret at all.

I give my opinion after all these comments... I am 45 years old with more than 30 years of motorcycling. I own a TDM 900 and have covered 23,000 kms on it in over 02 years. I lived on the Spanish border (Céret), used it in every possible situation and was never disappointed, especially in traffic jams. Very maneuverable, I thought I was riding a 125... It lacks a little torque, but for two-up rides, it's a delight. I'm taking it back as a GT, to visit Corsica... Rating : 5/5

French Casimir Model 2002
After reading everything and anything about this bike, I've just ridden it for 200 km on all types of roads. I'm 48 years old, only 1.76 m tall and a quiet biker. The results of my test ride leave me dubious. I have no problem with the seat height. On the other hand, the first time you brake, you slide forward. There's no bubble protection, and you don't need to reach high speeds to be shaken. As for the engine, I wonder where the 86 hp are, it feels like it's 10 hp less, not much when you open the throttle. But the worst thing is the lack of flexibility, the roughness of the engine. Admittedly, it's a twin-cylinder, but it's forbidden to rev below 3,000 rpm and only breathes above 4,000 rpm, which limits its range of use. Towns, tight bends and roundabouts, even in 2nd gear, are a real pain, with couplings everywhere. In my humble opinion: not made for the motorway (lack of protection), nor for the city (clutches), what use is it? Some people are full of praise for this bike. I don't think it leaves anyone indifferent, whether you love it or hate it. And when you see how few exmplars you see on the road or on display in Yamaha dealerships ..... Rating : 5/5
A beautiful machine, but which is not today. Over 40,000 km in 2 years. I ride it practically every day. Admittedly, it's high, so it's reserved for long-legged people, but in town it's handy to have a helmet height above the crates that clutter up the road. Very easy and "light" to handle for a big cube. The kickstand is a bit short, as is the bubble. This past August I rode 1,200 km in one go, from Brussels to Haute Provence. Of course my back hurt, but the TDM swallowed it like a dream. Then, 3,000 kms of passes and bends in a few days to climb back up, like a flower, and all this as a duo. This really is a bike that goes everywhere with brio, to the delight of its rider, and with which you can tease your way around town as well as on the road.
My complaints: apart from the minimalist stand and bubble, the digital clock resets to zero when the engine stalls when cold. The seat could actually be softer, with a little more room underneath. Just a little. The lack of an LED when the headlight is on (or off). The digital speedometer is illegible in bright sunlight. Oil filler not easily accessible on the road.
What I like: its versatility. Its flexibility. Its ability to keep up with you, whether you're going for a ride or just going wild. Its duo capability. Its maneuverability in town and its ability to transform itself into a grand tourer. Above 200 you'll still feel its unmistakable presence. And at green lights, it lifts itself if you open the door a little too fast.
It's a motorcycle out of its league, because it encompasses them all, every time with brio. What more could you ask for?

Hi all bikers!
After selling my 2000 fazer 600 (great bike!)I wanted to buy a thundercat 600(but they discontinued this model(I still don't understand the reason!).so,I found a Tdm 900 model 03 which has more power to me! The beauty now has 7800km.i'm enjoying it more and more, it's got great torque, exceptional roadholding (I ride at the same speed in the rain or in the dry!), irreproachable braking! I also ride a duo, no problem for this bike, it accepts everything without flinching!Disadvantage: I think it's a pity that you can't get a "comfort" saddle as an option, because it's already hard after 80 km... And for me: a lack of power (I'd need 100 hp), even if the torque is there. In the end, it's probably not a bad thing, given all the speed cameras and speed controls in this day and age! Oh yes, I forgot, very low consumption: 4.5l to 5.5l max! At petrol prices: interesting, isn't it?

No one to give an opinion. Well, for me it's a great bike. Agile with plenty of torque, ideal for cruising but also for attacking (a bit). Braking up to scratch. Even if the seat height can be criticized, no problem with my little 1 metre 76. Agile in town and on the road. Only slight downside: protection is limited (against bad weather and falls). Apart from that, a delight. Rating : 5/5
