presentation of the XV 125 VIRAGO 2000
for a long time, the Virago dominated the 2-wheeled market, thanks in particular to the custom wave and the reform that gave the 125 equivalent to a B license. Replaced by the Drag Star, it remained in the Yam catalog until 2003. It was the first 125 to feature a V-twin, a concept now widely used in production. This engine lacks power, penalizing the machine on the road. No worries on the road; the Virago maintains a comfortable ride and respectable handling. Good braking keeps things secure. The price is right, and the plastic is enticing. A good choice for those who prefer to flatter the retina rather than the stopwatch.

I have a Virago 125 from 1997
After about fifty km where the bike seemed to be over-revving while I was stopped at a traffic light or at low speed, I realize having stopped that a hose "hangs" under the bike! I pulled it out and it came out without any difficulty
It's about 40 cm long, with one side cut at an angle, and no smell of petrol
Anyway, here I was with an "extra" part, and I haven't ridden since, because it tended to run away in 1st and 2nd gear, and I had the impression that I had to "hold it back" or it would go off like a bomb. Scary!
Does anyone have any ideas?

i'm selling 1 Virago 125 year 2000 with 4945 km
it's burgundy with sissi bar and leather bags
my wife used to drive it very little and doesn't use it anymore, that's why I'm selling it but I don't want to liquidate it. Photos are available on request
it starts without a problem and I use it occasionally to keep it running
I think €1,500 is a fair price

and after grilling the engine after 23 years, I'm switching to black, I've got lots of spare parts, a bike that takes up space in the garage and a brand new Italian pot that makes too much noise for Paris.
if anyone's looking for spare parts or a bike to put back on the road, engine's fine but pot's too noisy Rating : 5/5 Respond to Elvis

Superb, easy to ride (a real bike), brakes well, consumes less than 4 l/100, not very noisy, flattering to look at and is quite sufficient for a quiet ride. From what I read, very reliable with this 4-stroke twin. Perfect for getting your foot in the stirrup, reminiscent of a little Harley Davidson, hence its nickname "Harleytte". your bike must have an air intake at the intake pipe or somewhere else?
it shouldn't be a problem to ride except that you lack power.

is located on the right-hand side of the crankcase (3 bolts, and yamaha engraved on it).
There's no need to change the gearbox oil, as the oil on the left-hand side (black plug) lubricates the engine and gearbox.)
As for performance-enhancing modifications, forget it. It's a very solid 4-stroke, but there's nothing you can do about it except change the gearbox output pinion. More potato (and still) on start-up, but less speed...
I've had my Virago for 11 years, and it hasn't given me any major problems (except for worn parts, of course).
That's the advantage of 4-stroke: less wear, more solidity...but less speed.
See you soon.

i ride a 240 Virago and I'm 1.75m tall. This machine is not made for tall people, without any modiff. I twisted the selector inwards and I did the same for the brake pedal, so I can control the heels in the footbraces.

I've never ridden a dragstar. However, you can also install freeway footrests on the frame's front tubes, which give your legs a good rest on long rides

I think it's a good size for this bike which looks bigger with someone short but quickly crushed with someone tall.
Note that it doesn't have much peach, so the bigger the person, the slower it goes... Rating : 3/5 Participate in the conversation

a true black and beige beauty with magnificent chromes, i prefer the loock and the pleasure of driving the virago to the dragstar, moreover the performances are not higher, because it should be taken into account that the dragstar weighs 30kg more and the little that it is equipped with a windscreen and saddlebags hello the vmax!!!! that's my opinion.
ps i had invited you to contact me for cool rides in ile de france and elsewhere, but since then, i'm very sad to see that my proposal hasn't interested anyone!!!!!

I bought my Virago 125 in May 2006, and I'm very happy with its reliable engine and very nice look. I've already had some great rides in my region (Languedoc-Roussillon), and it's true that you can enjoy 2-wheeling for a long time in our climate.
Here's a bike that's very pleasant to ride, with which you shouldn't look for the performance of a two-stroke, but which will slowly but surely lead you to the pleasure of 2-wheeling. Eric Rating : 5/5 Respond to fonzy

For me, it's nothing but happiness!... Very pleasant and power-wise, it's true that after a few hours of riding, you'd like a little more "peach" but be careful, it's only a 125 cm3 and I think that in general its performance is as honourable as that of the competitors... Too bad I don't have more sun in my region to enjoy it more (pas de calais)..
