presentation of the XJR 1300 Yard Built -Botafogo-N- 2015
The Yamaha XJR 1300 continues to celebrate its 20th anniversary, with the third Yard Built machine of the year created for the iconic street bike. Following in the footsteps of the Wrenchmonkees' Yard Built "Skullmonkee" and itroCkS!bikes' Yard Built "Dissident", Numbnut Motorcycles offers its first creation.
Inspired by a unique 1917 FIAT racing car, the "Botafogo Special", the Yard Built XJR 1300 "Botafogo N-Type Special" fits perfectly into the Yard Built family. The bike is an impressive custom-built machine based on a mix of in-house-developed custom add-ons and aftermarket parts: the original XJR chassis was neither cut nor welded.
Chief tuner Roderick Seibert worked with Gannet Design to pay homage to the 1917 race car with a few visual allusions: Borrani M-Ray spoke wheels in satin black and Pirelli Phantom Sport tires that recall the period.
Numbnut has added a few retro sporty touches: custom aluminum fuel cap of his own creation, as well as custom mesh side covers and a cover under the rear seat. Numbnut's custom "Imola" front end, with its mesh headlight cladding, conceals an LED headlight highlighted by a light green paint job by painter Mark van Wijk.
The bike gets its sporty character from an R1 fork, radial-mount calipers and a modified R1 mudguard at the front, as well as Ohlins twin shocks at the rear. The street racer's sleek styling is further enhanced by Tygon 2375 brake fluid reservoir hoses front and rear, and twisted Goodridge black steel brake lines. Pro-bolt titanium disc brake bolts secure the assembly.

A pleasing detail: the Numbnut logo, integrated into the gearbox output sprocket housing, lights up. The Steel Dragon Performance aluminum carburetor gills and RF Biketech radiator are discreetly luxurious.
A Stack ST200 tachometer keeps the rider connected to the engine, and GP-inspired Bike Sport Developments control buttons do their job alongside Biltwell grips. The rear wheel is driven by the 520 RK racing chain with Chiaravalli sprockets front and rear. Created by MVS Race Engineering, the custom Matt Black 4-in-2 exhaust offers a bespoke raw soundtrack.
Several custom parts developed in-house by Numbnut add the finishing touch: footrests, clutch and brake levers, heel guards and a custom Alcantara seat by Eller Meyer, as well as the custom seat cover and side covers.
Several parts created by Numbnut Motorcycles are now available to order for XJR owners wishing to customize their machine. They join the customization options already available from Wrenchmonkees and itroCkS!bikes.
