One Yard Built preparation follows another, and no two are alike. Yamaha wants to be at the heart of the preparation world. Celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Yamaha XJR 1300 continue here, thanks to a collaboration with Rough Craft.
Taiwanese designer Winston Yeh has joined the Yard Built family, drawing his inspiration from the street for a darker, more aggressive creation.
"The Yard Built concept is to always move forward," comments Yamaha Motor Europe Product Manager Shun Miyazawa."We've had the privilege of working not only with the best tuners in the world, but especially tuners who dare to be original and push the boundaries of style. The Yard Built XJR 1300 'Guerilla Four' is no exception with a model signed by Rough Crafts; an elegant, raw creation that really stands out."
"The 2015 XJR 1300 was designed to be easily customizable," he continues."This new version confirms this philosophy showing that you can create truly unique motorcycles based on XJRs, without major frame modifications. This opens up many possibilities for inspired owners who don't necessarily have the skills required to customize their machines."
Winston's customization process is unique: after a virtual creation of its preparation, selected craftsmen took care of every step of the modification right through to completion. Using traditional metalworkers, painters and anodizers from the streets of Taipei, the end result truly reflects Rough Crafts' objective: "handmade in Taiwan".
Without any cutting or welding of the chassis, Winston created the 'Guerilla Four' by adding a mix of Rough Crafts parts as well as parts from other well-known tuners. The front end was customized by replacing the forks with those of the VMax. They were shortened by 100mm and the brake calipers were modified to accept 29cm-diameter brake discs. The hand-crafted upper fork crown removes all on-board instrumentation, giving the bike a streamlined look.
Large Coker Beck Style tires are mounted on Roland Sands Black Ops rims, and the standard exhaust is complemented by a custom-made Rough Crafts muffler.
The bike is finished in a beautiful black paint job and Rough Crafts logo by one of Tapei's finest painters, Air Runner Custom Paint. All metal parts were made by local talent OneHandMade Customs, while chroming was carried out by Anodizing.
Rough Crafts footpegs and Fighter handlebars with ISR braking system complete the package. Rough Crafts designed the headlight, as well as the intake cones, fuel tank, seat, rear mudguard and fuel cap. The result is a much more refined and aggressive look.
A selection of 'Guerilla Four' parts will be available for XJR owners who wish to customize their own machine.
