presentation of the XSR 700 Yard Built - Otokomae - 2016
With Ad Hoc Café Racers, the Yard Built platform returns to Spain with a special preparation for the summer. This partnership has given birth to an aggressive version of the XSR 700, a true Street Tracker ready to take on any challenge.
ad Hoc tuner David Gonzalez is no stranger to this type of work on Yamaha motorcycles. The native of Barcelona has forged an international reputation with his preparations based on the XJ 650 and XJ 750 : after stripping and reworking the original machines, he added his own personal touch with specific powder-coated parts. For the Yard Built XSR 700 "Otokomae", David created a racy Street Tracker: this aggressive preparation in bold colors certainly stands out from the other machines.
"I really like this madness instilled by David," comments Cristian Barelli, Marketing Coordinator at Yamaha Motor Europe."The Street Tracker style really suits the XSR 700 and the paintwork is out of this world. He was careful to respect our golden rule, which is not to cut or weld the frame of the bike. So, with this preparation, he proves that it's possible to customize the XSR and make it stand out from the crowd without any major manufacturing work. The customization touches are very well designed, without compromising the XSR 700's rideability to preserve its fun side!"
to give it the iconic Ad Hoc styling, David first tackled the front of the bike, adding several original Yamaha parts from other models: arm and handlebar assembly from the MT-09, front forks, disc brakes, brake master cylinder and clutch from the YZF-R6, and headlight and bracket from the MT-01.
borrani rims and Michelin tires provide adequate protection, while the original fuel tank has been retained, cleverly concealed by a custom shell built in four modular parts. Painted black, the radiator blends into the engine block. The air filter housing has been replaced by filters to create space in the center.
the XSR 700 's standard exhaust has been removed in favor of a much more aggressive-sounding SC Project system.sC Project system, while the sub-frame has been custom-built for bolt-on access to tools and battery. The seat height has been raised by 15 mm with a Gears Racing shock absorber, and a bespoke cowhide saddle has been fitted. at the front, turn signals are integrated into the fork crown. The bike is painted in Yamaha Racing's historic colors, yellow and blue, which have been revisited for the occasion.
the Yard Built XSR 700 Otokomae is a true Street Tracker.
